IMHO we need a mixture of both. How many Championship players did we have in the side last year? Where did it get us? This is a hard league to get out of and the players we need need talent AND the right attitude and blatantly just because a player has played at a higher level doesnt mean he will cut it.
Leon Knight for example.

Birchall was played out of position , cant be all that shit as he is about to sign a 4 year deal at LA Galaxy when his contract with us expires at the end of June. The Hawk and McLard have had injury problems so haven't been able to prove consistency. Livermore and Jarret weren't good enough.

i would take Pittman over any promising youth team player, there is a world of difference between the youth leagues and league 2 which is why clubs like arsenal frequently loan kids out to get experience. In the youth leagues you are playing against other kids, in league 2 you will quite often be up against wise old pros who may not be as quick as they were once but still have enough tactical nouse to put you in their pocket. Pittman it would seem, has overcome this hurdle. There are many promising youth team players who never do overcome it.

How many of them sub appearances would have been 5-10 minutes, sorry but the majority (90%) of a striker's goals come mostly when he starts, any striker in the world would have the same sort of record if they were left on the bench believe me.:lolol:
Anyway Last seasons stats dont lie, 17 Goals in 19 starts is hardly bad is it?

It was 29 starts, as Turkey stated above. Still a decent return for a young striker, i agree with you about the appearances, as a 18/19 year old he would im guessing be coming off the bench with 5 minutes or so to go. Just a suggestion, but i would prefer Le fondre from rochdale, who always looks a decent player, or Andy Bishop from bury. Neither are proven at league 1 level, but Murray has shown its not impossible, and they both score a fair few goals.

Hawkins , McLeod and Livermore started the season brightly but after 4 games it all went tits up for them.

I've always rated those two as well.

This rumour isn´t a lie. A transfer fee has been accepted and its just down to the Player and his agent for a final desicion. The other player we´re linked with at Bournemouth is Marvin Bartley. Bartley from what I´ve been told is the more likely of the 2 to join.
You heard it here first!

Hmmm I have grown a very thick skin to transfer rumours so will wait until something concrete comes out. If true means Owusu ain't coming back and think Davies might be loaned out, no way we will go into the season with 5 strikers.

I agree with that. Also, in my opinion, the key is that whilst this season is obviously important, it would be great to have players for the long term rather than just one season. We might get money back long term if we sign Pitman whereas Murphy goes back to Arsenal after one season.
