Yeh, and the rest!
If TB is serious about his targets then he has to make his targets serious.

See what I did there?

First of all, Dont judge davies yet it isn't easy being thrown into a relegation battle with all the pressure on you in your first game if he gets a good pre season he will be a big asset next season and is a proven goal scorer at this level, Johnny Dixon well enough said about him.:lolol:
Anyway What about Zamora, we took a punt on him and it pay'd off didn't it.

My 'beef' here isn't with Davies I was merely pointing out that we have taken a number of 'punts' in recent seasons that haven't come off.

And whilst it is early days, Davies was brought in to score goals whilst NF and Murray were injured, and the 'punt' didn't work. Long term I think he could come good, depending on whether RS actually fancy's him.

My argument is; Why should we again 'punt' for a lower league striker who has had a handful of good games, with a piss poor overall scoring record, when we could realistically get better.

Quality strikers these days are so hard to come by, so if Pitman is worth a 'punt' why are there not 20 enqueries to Bouremouth??

Be it somebody proven (Bishop at Bury for instance) or somebody with premiership potential (Murphy at Arsenal) I think we can do better than signing the likes of Pitman.

I think you'll find he made 29 league starts and 39 league apps in total, scoring 17 goals.

17 In 19 starts last season though, so that shows he is maturing and at 21 to have 120 appearances is amazing obviously hasn't had many injuries, Worth a punt I reckon.:)

Jake Robinson had made over 120 appearances by the time he hit 22, his record was 17 goals. He wasn't up to it! Arguably at a higher level.

He doesn't actually have a piss poor scoring record because that '130 appearances' is another cock up from Wikpedia
He has infact made 55 Starts, scoring 30 goals. (13 of which were in league one in a frankly poor team)

But its all down to opinion I guess

Hardly a 'piss poor' scoring record is it, especially for a 21 year old.
He's scored 29 goals from 55 league starts(AFC B website). All from the age of 17 to 21.
Not saying he would be in the side but great as an understudy for NF who aint getting any younger!

55 league starts and another 70 games off the bench equals 125! So 30 goals in 125 appearances doesn't set the world alight.

Similar records to Jonny Dixon and Jake Robinson.

Don't think it is unrealistic that we could sign better.

How many of them sub appearances would have been 5-10 minutes, sorry but the majority (90%) of a striker's goals come mostly when he starts, any striker in the world would have the same sort of record if they were left on the bench believe me.:lolol:
Anyway Last seasons stats dont lie, 17 Goals in 19 starts is hardly bad is it?

A perfect example of someone making something of their career from a team lower down the league. Someone took a 'punt' on him once no doubt.
I wouldnt expect RS to gamble on this kind of player and no doubt he will have done his homework if he ends up with us.
