But ...... but ..... they are the best fans in the country .............

Paul Merson said this on Sky Sports.

How can someone who has played for Arsenal in some of their best ever games in the best ever stadiums actually say this?

I wonder if Pompey are already up in Yorkshire because otherwise the team might have to thumb a lift.

Didn't they give that Gaydamak clown the freedom of the city in 2008?

Strong candidate for worst decision of all time. I wonder which bandwagon-jumping councillor is sleeping badly over that one. The town/club obviously means so much to him...

This is a very sad day for football if the rumours are true and on the same day when some loutish p###k cons the football world in order to line his already discustingly bulging pockets.

I have absolutely no interest in the greed that grips the premiership from the pompous Sky coverage through to the playboy lifestyles of the so called creme de la creme of footballing ability.

Pompey were so badly mismanaged, just like we were, but more so. Their supporters are no different from us. They bleed Pompey and rightly so.

Wouldnt it be refreshing to see Sky and the prem players dipping into their pockets to bale out one of the countries oldest and proudest clubs. The supporters deserve it.

Agree with you 100%

isnt the adminstrator liable for debt under their watch? if so, and he cant exit administration, he'll bail before it gets too deep.

eitherway, the press release above is interesting. its clearly sucking up the FL while making a villian. Gaydemak fella wants a down paymnet from company known to be in trouble (no more so then he...), but thats presented as a "ransom". probably hoping some pompey fans will camp outside his house until he changes his mind.

The Dull City official website is saying the game will go ahead tomorrow despite of what is going on.

To an extent, so do I. But on the other hand, can you remember any Pompey fans complaining when they won the FA Cup by buying players that they could never afford? Anybody with an ounce of common sense could have seen that the way the club was run was totally unsustainable, but they chose to ignore this.

I do remember several of them coming to the Fans United game at The Goldstone, including John PFC Westwood. We shouldn't forget how much support we received from supporters of other teams when we were in a desperate situation.

I bet harry rednapp will still sleep tight tonight tosser.
I could have got them to the premier league with the money he was given.
I bet if they were in league 1 this season they would have the highest wage bill in the division & that is just wrong.
I feel for the fans as they deserve better but surely they saw this coming.
I didnt help when they were bought out by the only oil baron in the world that was potless.
I hope that they get through this somehow but not before they are chucked out of the football league & start again.

Total bullcrap. hope they f*****g collapse and die. Still have two terrible memories of me as a 14 year old in 1971 (ish) being kicked by octogenarian thuggish f*****g Porstmouth stevedores in Pompeyscum scarves thinking it good fun on the terraces to assault opposition teenagers. They are and always will be scum in my eyes and I for one will celebrate with a big glass of something nice, when they finally go bankrupt. F**K Off Pompeyscumbags.....

Another day, another load of SHIT from Pompey.

Just another pathetic attempt to win sympathy and assert pressure on the would-be investors with a horrendously transparent bit of brinksmanship.

"We can't afford the lump sum" sniff sniff, sob sob   , well how about you SELL some players and tell the likes of Kitson (£20k per week), Lawrence (£19k per week) and all the others who earn in seven days what most of the population of Portsmouth combined earns in a year to SOD OFF. How f***ing DARE they whine about having no money, every single time their club's name is mentioned I just think they cannot possibly be any more of a disgrace, and every time they surprise me by going just that little bit further.

The few of you suggesting we should feel sorry for their fans: how stupid are you going to look when YET AGAIN Pompey announce another miraculous deal to save them, probably by tomorrow morning I'd imagine.

Rest assured all you bleeding heart types: PFC will still be here and taking the piss tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that....and in a hundred years time when we're all long gone. Don't feel too sorry for them, will you: I'm pretty sure they weren't thinking of us while they were all getting pissed at Wembley twice and we were losing at the likes of Stockport County.

I do feel sorry for the fans, although I think that they should have been protesting more - the signing of Lawrence and Kitson was madness. They are gambling on staying in the championship to have a greater value.

Does anybody know if the football league are going to impose a points deduction ? the 9 point deduction had noe effect on the final outcome and they are still in admin - surely they should be docked points.

I do not want to see them go under - but I would take great pleasure in watching them drop a few more leagues before they rebuild.

:wozza:

Pompey got to two cup finals and into Europe by fielding players that their club could not possibly afford. Nobody else made that choice but them. They made a considerable amount of money by doing so. Where has that money gone, and more importantly, why on earth should anyone else bail them out?

If I need a new car but only have £500 quid to spend, do I buy a car that costs £500, or do I go to the Ferrari garage with my £12,000 a year salary and persuade the salesman to sell me a £250,000 Ferrari? And if I then somehow get the Ferrari and realise in six months that I can't in a million years afford the payments, is it reasonable to go begging to my friends to pay for it instead? And should I then sell that Ferrari to pay off the debt, or just keep driving around in it, and maybe buy a couple of £40,000 BMWs as well, just for something to play with?

Very sad for the fans if it happens, despite our rivalry and stories of nasty days out in Fratton, they are just ordinary people like we are.

It just seems to me that there are a lot of people involved in football, which we know to our misfortune, who shouldn't be allowed within a million miles of the game. Maybe if a big club goes the way of Maidstone and Aldershot it will force those who run the game in this country to take steps and ensure those in charge of clubs are fit for purpose...or impose severe penalties if they aren't, such as compulsory relelgation...but, sadly the wimps at the league and FA seem to have as much backbone as a jellyfish!
