I feel sorry for their fans..........

Did everyone see how they all protested so vehemently, against signing their two recent £20,000 a week players.....?

...........oh...and they just got Herman Hreidesan to sign a new contract.....TODAY...!

Popular local club my f***ing ARSE.

Imagine that you are the Managing Director of a Company that supplies Portsmouth Football Club with, say, food. You know they are a 'popular local club' so you are a bit slack on collecting your invoices because you are a fan.

One thing leads to another and you end up being owed £20,000. Enough is enough and you start to press them for payment. After a load of letters and stuff you find yourself in the pot with all the other creditors and you are now bricking yourself about getting your £20,000.

Portsmouth then go into Administration and you are forced to accept 20p in the pound on your invoice - £4,000. This isn't enough to sort YOUR company out and you are forced to go out of business, laying off your staff and having to sell your house.

In the meantime, Portsmouth Football Club are still trading as if nothing has happened and lo and behold, announce that they have signed not one, but TWO players who will EACH be earning in a WEEK, what your company was owed.

Popular local club?

f*** RIGHT OFF

and This.

I am not wishing this on Portsmouth ,however at some stage it will take one or two higher profile clubs to go bust for the football world to realize that they are not living in a parallel universe.

This,

I feel for the fans, I would not wish it on another fellow football fan but the club deserve it, disgraceful business.

Crawley beware!

There is a blog on the Guardian website where Portsmouth fans defend the supporters.

Essentially they are no different from Liverpool or Man City (delusional) is that when they were paying the massive wages they could afford them - their problem was the owner took a hit and stopped paying the wages. Could have happened to anyone.

And thay need to pay Kitson and Lawrence as without hem they would go down and there would be nothing for the creditors.

Some of you lot have short memories on here. Not oo long ago you were asking other clubs for support to help get Falmer and save your Albion.
You struck lucky and Bloom stepped in but it could all change very quickly ,who would have believed when Pompey won the cup just a few years ago that this could happen.
I wish them well.

what is happening to Pompey and the troubles at the Albion are two completely differing scenarios.

Pompey have shat in the faces of not only local businesses, but every other football club that lives within it's means. It is only a matter of time before a football club gets liquidated...... PAY UP POMPEY!.... I have a feeling it's too late!

Bang on
This needs to happen and if it happens to Pompey so be it
No one will ever stop going to games as a boycott against high wages for players, so going out of business is the only way that is going to stop this ridiculous spiral of wages

Last week they played Watford at Fratton Park , the attendance was around 2,500 short of a break even figure just to pay the 1st team players wages for the week , let alone office staff , reserves and youth team , catering , police , stewards and the ADMINISTRATORS fee etc etc. The Official Pompey website said that anyone paying on the day could only pay with cash which sounded ominous at the time and now suggests that they have completely run out of money.

It won't happen. Just brinkmanship.

I used to think this Giraffe but it is now very much on the cards. Who is going to come out and take this poisoned chalice on?

This is a very sad day for football if the rumours are true and on the same day when some loutish p###k cons the football world in order to line his already discustingly bulging pockets.

I have absolutely no interest in the greed that grips the premiership from the pompous Sky coverage through to the playboy lifestyles of the so called creme de la creme of footballing ability.

Pompey were so badly mismanaged, just like we were, but more so. Their supporters are no different from us. They bleed Pompey and rightly so.

Wouldnt it be refreshing to see Sky and the prem players dipping into their pockets to bale out one of the countries oldest and proudest clubs. The supporters deserve it.
