The first touch is the best first touch I think I have ever seen by any player, particularly in that situation where he had the Chelsea player on his heels: truely exceptional.

Some good goals on this list. But watching back would any have had Sky pulling together a quick compilation of the best ever similar goals to compare it too as they did last night? Carragher likened it to Messi and Cates/Neville to Bergkamp. It was THAT good.

You must have been standing near me at Highbury then!
And me.

It was like one of those portrait paintings where the eyes follow you around the room. It didn’t matter where you stood, thousands of fans were in line with Case’s shot.

Mitoma’s goal is still better. He watched the path of the ball every step and even if the keeper might have done better with the shot, the whole movement with control, position and shot in quick succession has to be right up there.

Before I would have said Skalak.

But now i'm not sure. The fact that Mitoma was drawing legitimate comparisons with Bergkamp and Messi is a bit of an indicator that I should change my mind. f*** it. I've changed my mind. Mitoma

In my mind that's also the best goal scored in the PL this season

The Skalak goal was superb, a real blockbuster.

But going back to the other poster’s point above which I agree with, it wouldn’t be that difficult for any player to score, even average Sunday league players have scored goals like that.

Not many players on earth could bring the ball down like Mitoma did.

Welbeck had a sublime one against Leeds during Covid

Maupay also scored a superb team goal against Dirty during covid under Graham Potter.

Pascal Gros v Man Utd at Old Trafford was another great team goal in the 3-1 game, De Zerbi era.

Jimmy Case's 30 yard thunderbolt in 83 at Highbury. To be on that packed south bank with 10000 (?) Albion fans in the blazing sunshine was unforgettable. Still one of the best Albion days ever.

I can't agree.

Skalak's goal wasn't a random swing of the boot. His timing was exquisite. Just as exquisite as Mitoma's wondrous first touch .... but with added violence

A pub player can't score a goal like Skalak's.

But i'm round to the idea of

1) Mitoma
2) Skalak
3) Enciso

This one left an indelible impression on my memory if only for its performative value

As mentioned, Gary Nelson Cup tie goal carving through the length of the field through half a dozen Brentford players - probably one of Brighton’s GOAT goals.

All the above mentioned goals by other posters and yes, Mitoma’s sublime first touch on Bart’s assist setting himself up for a goal that deserves to be seen up there with the best.
