Also enjoyed the ‘big club’ feeling that came with seeing what looked liked a lot of football tourists supporting either Caceido/Estupiñán or Mitoma.

Did you ask him to pass on our regards to Hunemier on his return to the land of wurst and lederhosen.

Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Sort of........I told him that one German player I recalled before Pascal was someone we called a BFG. And that we still had affection for him and I understood that he still had affection for us. When I remembered hunemeier's name he looked him up and said that he was still playing in the German 2nd division.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

It's a shame also though that our least passionate fans/tourist fans are sat right by the away fans. Easy for the away fans to give stick
An interesting point. Didnt Barber say, at the recent fans forum i think, that the club was looking at moving the away fans?

Why not move them next to the North stand, in the lower east. That would set the cat amongst the pigeons and generate some real atmosphere.

Yes to your second point

But a big fat no from me for point one.

Although for full disclosure, I moved today from my normal North Stand season ticket seat to one in the Lower East with my son (the half nearest the South Stand)

The atmosphere was dreadful, no singing, little shouting, but I don't care too much as it's not a 'normal' seat for me. But I couldn't sit in that morgue part of the ground for every home game, it would drive me crazy.

Lots of those seats are sold match by match so you get a lot of tourists and day trippers in them that don’t know the chants or much about Albion matches really.

If I recall correctly Barber, and the lady in charge of supporter services, said they’d discussed several times if it was possible to move the away fans from behind the goal but couldn’t find a workable solution. Which is a pity. Do think sticking them in the corner would be better for us, especially a corner out of the TV camera sight lines.

well I sit half way line at the very front of west upper so feel perfectly placed to offer a good opinion on this as I have North to my left, away fans same distance to my right and the mass of the West behind me;

Leicester fans -

5/10 for volume - I've heard worse but was fairly average
3/10 for quantity - but then they were torn appart for most of the game so to be expected really

Brighton

6/10 for volume overall - granted there were a couple of 9/10 moments but most were 3/10 or 4/10 with lower numbers singing a particular song
8/10 for quantity - lots of songs being sung, but as mentioned above, this generally didn't translate into a big stadium noise

In addition here are some thoughts;

Brighton fans located in the north often feel the atmosphere is great as they are right there within it, so even 50 people singing can sound epic to them.

* The actual song makes a huge difference to the perceived noise as perfectly demonstrated by Leeds 'Marching on together', & (although I hate to say it) the twats up the road with 'Glad all over'
We tend to sing some songs way too fast for everyone to properly sing together and people either get left slightly behind the main (too speedy) pack - ie/ 'Dunk is one of our own' (the North go way too fast on this imo). Good Old Sussex By the Sea (sounds terrible when the timings out)

* Or the words are a bit tricky or not yet well known, so many dont it at all - ie Caicedo's Abba song (which is fantastic by the way) and 'Everywhere We Go Watching brighton Hove Albion'

Which is obviously why 'ALBIONNNN' works and makes huge noise (its very easy and timing isnt an issue) Its pretty dull though tbh
&
'We Are Brighton' can be great too as everyone knows the second rendition is "volume doubled"

Sadly, 'We're On Our Way' used to be epic once everyone had learned it, but we cant sing it anymore as we have now landed in the Prem ................

or can we

......... to the Champions League" anyone ??????

My granny could tell you that you don't sit in ES for the atmosphere...

A few points about the game,

1. I'm very sorry, but I had to listen to the game on the radio, I apologise most profusely.
2. The atmosphere sounded great on Radio Sussex.
3. Did my ears deceive me or had the Leicester fans brought their dreaded tinpot 'clackers' with them? It sounded like they had.
4, Watching the goals on Sky Sports News, all you could hear when Leicester scored was Mr Unbiased ex Leicester Tw*t Alan Smith, gobbing off about how great their goals were.
Not a f**king dickie bird from him about Albion's goals, God I hate that boring Tw*t.
What a great day!

This is spot on / the right position from which to determine the overall atmosphere. It really does depend where you sit. I was in the west lower, quite near the north stand yesterday and I thought it was a great atmosphere. The north stand kept it up throughout - no issues there at all, they were brilliant and it's a shame it does not reach all corners of the ground (but neither did the Leicester fans - hardly heard them apart from when they scored from our position).
Because I normally take my 3 young kids and get tickets late sometimes we are stuck in the east near the away fans and you can normally mainly hear them and just about hear the NS from there - with some exceptions of course like the last 15, 20 mins of yesterday when most of the Amex joined in and some of the epic games last season.

Also think the Amex is no different and in a lot of cases better than most other PL grounds. Also think its odd that we are not coming through on tv. Hope someone writes to PB about microphone positioning. I do think it's important.

I was lucky enough to be on the pitch prior to the game as one of the people holding the giant shirt flag. All I can say is the noise was deafening especially the rendition of Sussex by the Sea. Raised the hairs on my neck.

Sorry, my bad.......I meant the WEST stand I was in, not the EAST. Apologies to anyone in the East.

Don't worry – I'm sure there'll be plenty of people complaining about SOMETHING to do with the East Stand Massive from yesterday  :lolol:

No thanks. More than happy with our seats exactly where they are.

Just while we taking of songs I can't quite get the Caicedo song: Caiscedo uh huh, he came from Equador uh huh to win the Ballon d'Or uh huh (Thinks that right then I lose it). I think it would be helpful to help us all sing together if the lyrics were posted on here occasionally to let us dullards catch up!

I don't think the Amex atmosphere has ever sounded that good on the TV, and yesterday was no different IMO. Anyway, so what.

I just wanted to say that watching on the TV there there didn't seem to be as many empty seats as usual, was that right?. Also when Macca scored in the 97th minute the ground still seemed pretty full (certainly the NS) so it didn't look like 40% of the crowd had got bored and/or gone home early in disgust as they often seem to do.

50,000 years in the future, two cryogenically unfrozen, genetically reengineered Albion octogenarians are chatting in an undersea nursing home several miles north of what was once Haywards Heath.

“Do you remember that Sheffield Wednesday atmosphere that time at the Amex?”
“Yes, was a bit special that.”
“And the Burnley game, when I think we had nine men”
“Oh yes, that one too.”
“But the Sheffield Wednesday one was better”
“Yes, the Sheffield one...”

They both lapse into silence, watch a school of blue fin tuna pass by the window. Mid-morning tea and biscuits are served.

Considering we scored 5 i didn't think it was that loud yesterday. And the 'everywhere we go' song has been ruined by goons who have to sing 90mph. Why do we always do that?
