What a way to talk to a customer. Is this his fist job in the private sector? I'm surprised his employer allows it, especially to a customer that helped save the club hat he now works for. Surely he didnt say that?

Frankly I don't see how anyone can defend Hebbards actions now. I don't always agree with Lord B but he deserves total respect. The club need to sort this out now.

And a side question can you actually conceive of a situation when you would need to piss on someone who is on fire?!

Perhaps a question is needed on ATFPT.......

"If stewards saw a fan combusting, how would they deal with putting out the fire, and would the fan be banned for two matches afterwards for burning without permission?"

And another thing, this forum does far more to promote the club, give information etc than a lot of the things the club do including their own website.

And presumably that is why Insider continues to post and operate Ask The Club as he realised the benefit the forum provides. This also suggests it is certainly not a club decision but a personal one.

Most of the posts, bar the 'petition' thread, have been criticism rather than abuse though. I think what some people see as abuse is actually criticism.

"I think Richard Hebberd is poor at his job, is dreadful at PR and should be held accountable for the actions of himself and his staff." = criticism

"I think Richard Hebberd is a f***ing idiot." = abuse.
As examples
I don't even know who this guy is but I hate his guts the f***ing wanker.

I don't count those as criticism, and neither of those were on the petition thread.

Maybe that is how they cool down Lua Luas boots at the end of a match?

Then whose fault is it?

Mouth/stewards/abusers/mods/RH/club?

Maybe some of the above.
But one thing is sure, IMO, is that this will not blow over until threads stop appearing and abuse stops (at least).

You have just posted them again!

Incidentally ... that's an "example" of a post I hadn't seen until today. I guess it appeared whilst I was on holiday. Yet, somehow, I'm expected to have dealt with it.

And would you have deleted it had you seen it? I didn't see it either but I wouldn't have done and presumably you didn't either Everest? Or you wouldnt have just reposted it?

Lord B. Don't engage. You are the customer and a customer that helped save the club that these employees now work for. Dick Knight or Tony Bloom need to get these folks in hand. Its not acceptable, and if that was many of our work places, then having spoken to a customer in such a fashion would not be acceptable.

I'm not a mod, so that question is immaterial.
And don't presume what I would or not do. I may surprise you. Or not.

I didn't see it. If someone had reported it I would have removed it. I don't think that is acceptable, neither is banning fans for being noisy.

Personally, as someone who doesnt particularly get involved in personal abuse, i havent seen much on here that is any worse than things i hear in the course of my work. I still have to do my job, and understand, that people are rarely abusive without cause. Maybe the cause doesnt merit the abuse, but that can be explained easily to the abuser.

If i told one of my clients that "I wouldnt piss on him if he was on fire", I would expect to be disciplined. This would particularly the case, if all that had cause my ire was someone not taking my side.

I have to say, from my observations, that I have found the moderators generally, and Lord Bracknell in particular, to be balanced and patient. Considering some of the banter and stuff that goes on here this seems to be a well run forum.

I also like the fact that i feel the Moderators are on the same side as me as fans and as contributors to the forum. If this feeling was lost in order to keep the club happy, I would simply lose ineterest in this site, as I suspect would a lot of people and this site would just become a puppet of the club.

This may suit an authoritarian like Richard Hebberd, but doesnt seem a particularly good way to promote free ideas.

Sorry got confused!!

But back to the point, the club are shooting themselves in the foot by getting rid of this. Apart from anything it promotes the club and Falmer in a great way so who is gaining from them continuing this?
