You see it often. Members of the public thinking they know the law. When pushed away, or restrained and moved away, or dropped to the floor, they yell “That’s assault”!!

Is it assault?

Yes. It is. Absolutely.

That’s not the question. Was it proportionate and justifiable assault? That’s the question.

Again, that’s not directed at the OP.

Indeed, often it is not proportionate.

No, what you makes you say that? I very much stand up for what I consider right. Last season I was enraged at Brentford when some steward asked me to empty my pockets and then proceeded to take my wallet and start to take stuff out of it. That is a total infringement I went ballistic and immediately called over the policeman standing behind. He agreed I was right but their policy. I wrote to all concerned and will not allow it to happen to me again. That is standing up for you rights.

Only because I do agree with your suggestion that people shouldn’t put up with things that are clearly wrong. I’ve had to intervene for my son who has been searched and asked for ID multiple times away from home….they can go pick on someone else.

Tackling BHAFC is a completely different matter though. I wondered if they’d received your frustrations and whether it had a positive outcome. I have….they completely stonewalled me.

On another separate note the head Brentford steward recently got sent down for noncing with a 14 year old girl. All the club did was not use the stewarding company for three games as it wouldn’t have looked good as they promote as a family club.
I know a Brentford steward and this head guy was a complete nutter apparently it’s a much better working environment for them now.
Christ, that’s grim.

Regarding Brighton not surprised, for the good Barber does I do believe we are just customers to him. Little if anything of empathy. He is a political animal nothing more.

Not sure Tony shares your view.
Maybe not but his persona is very much of a politician. He often dismisses fans views and even with safe standing his stance was far far behind literally every other club in the EPL. We as fans mean little to him, not TB, we as commercial entities mean everything. Recent emails over ST usage highlight this.

He is often just look at the jumpers.
I take it you don't have a serious grievance with the club.

Incidentally I feel it worthwhile to note that even God gets it wrong.
He permitted:

Hitler
Pol Pot
Mugabe
Putin
Countless individual disgusting creatures such as (you can name them).

It is a tough gig being supremo.
The big picture is the only picture in town.
Innit.

See the article shared earlier today, where PB, Karen Brady, and an Arsenal bod decry the need for a Football Regulator and how it's a very bad thing for all concerned.

God also permitted Mark Farrington to play for BHA.
Thats the thing with granting humans free will - you just have to take the rough with the smooth.

Ah, I wasn’t commenting on this particular case.

I was pointing out that restraint and removal is assault. Every time it is performed. By anyone.

It can be justifiable and legal assault but it is always assault.

Hard to know what happened in this case with no evidence or other accounts.
I’ve had to physically remove people dozens of time in my career over the years. If someone refuses to leave, we can remove them using reasonable force. The law will back me up every time.

With regard to the actions of stewards of other clubs surely that is something that needs to be dealt with the club in question. I’m not sure that “BHAFC” would have much say in the matter, especially if those actions were in accordance with health and safety/security regulations. I have been searched numerous times on away trips, and had to show i.d. I’m afraid it goes with the territory - some clubs are more rigorous than others.
