I could never get along with Tom Foolery.

Always looked half finished. Especially down the back end. Looked like a squat.

Food was okay but way over priced.

Feel sorry for the owners and staff but it does go to show, having an ironic moustache and wearing vintage aprons does not guarantee success.

Tom foolery is closed. I always use Hector's. Unpretentious, but limited menu, great staff. Great coffee. I can virtually get away with murder in there ! I normally ask for lobster, or kangaroo steaks. They served me up a plastic lobster the other day ! What brilliant customer service.
Yes I like Hectors. It’s a tad small and can feel rather like you’re sharing the table with a stranger at busy times.

Which of course is fine if they’re clean and possess acceptable table manners

Unfortunately, I seem to invariably find myself next to rather large seated ladies with calamitous spatial awareness, a total lack of the concept of other people, and the table manners of a working class hippopotamus.

Cue 1970's style Mother-in-law joke.

Sounds like a nice place Shoreham, I haven’t been there for a while but definitely don’t remember seeing the beach in the photo

It’s a lovely place because I live here lol…not sure that photo has anything to do with Shoreham 👀

This is the concern . . . Bullshit and lies . . . The cat got out the bag during lock down when some papers said it had an undiscovered beach. Unremarkable beach maybe, but not undiscovered now, its like the m25 compared to 5 years ago. the towns population has doubled with no additional infrastructure and there are still people in a traffic jam on shoreham beach in Allegro's.

we do have an enviable selection of coffee shops and cash only dealers/barbers . . . . .

I have seen articles about Newhaven with a photo of Newhaven Harbour in Edinburgh
I’m interested to know where the beach is in the Shoreham article, plenty of beach parking too.

I haven't . . .but predictable enough . . . THe only old thing on that stretch now is the whale wash . . . . Is it old enough to get listed?

Its all reclaimed/man made land. If the quality of what's on top is anything to go by it'll sink soon enough.

'River View' will have it's day again . .

As someone who grew up in Shoreham and loved it, it’s a bit shit now ain’t it?

If there was ever a town with an identity crisis then it’s Shoreham.
Aye…..but living at the sort of north west end…..I can sometimes trundle down to the peace of the toll bridge and that stretch of river …and momentarily close my eyes to the crap that’s happening (I try to ignore the new warehouses 🤦‍♂️)

It's been said before, but the number of flats in Shoreham now is just ridiculous. I've lived here 25 years or so now and its easily doubled in that time with shite blocks of crappy flats. Mad.

I grew up and lived in the north West part of Shoreham and loved it, that part is still untouched, but that enormous warehouse over the river that's now visible from the upper Shoreham road, it's awful.

I might be wrong but i think there is a NSC member who happens to be a Adur DC councillor and who also might be the planning and regeneration bod for the Shoreham area….. I could be wrong 😉

I doubt he’ll stick his head above the parapet on this thread then, and if he does I’d like to see him explain the logic (outside of brown envelopes) behind what’s gone on.
