Are conspiracy theories destroying democracy?

Because the likes of hybrid_x etc are too clever for them. They know, we are just sheep blindly following.

I realise that I am merely a blind sheeple but that doesn't explain why these people who already control everything want to control more. If you listen to morons like Alex Jones - and dear god I suggest you don't - then there is nothing left for them to control. So why are they bothering?

a) the warped agenda is from the corps, not myself. my life has not murdered anyone for profit, nor plans to.
b) there IS NO PROOF any muslim flew the plane. maybe you watched the hollywood movie 'flight 93' and believed it....heheh.
c) your pancake theory has been disproved, it is irrational.
d) just because many people share the same mental pathology does not make them sane.

with b you might be referring to the passport they found in the debris.....lol.....of the muslim who was still alive......lol.

you are probably a troll....a forum with 100k people always attracts trolls who guard the status quo....how much do they pay you? lol.

Both an apt description of your post and somewhere to put your tinfoil when your kitchen draws are full up.

I though this (yes I know it is another link to a Wikipedia thread!) was interesting and quite a good overview of the general subject

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theory

Very dissappointed that my favourite one hasn't been mentioned:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Titanic_alternative_theories

There is even a book on it. Do I think it happened? Not a chance, how many people would have been in on it and would they have all kept quiet?

I would recommend David Aaronovitch's "Voodoo Histories" as a good read on the subject.

Brighton / Hove actually
,i hate to bounce this nonsense but you will never get an answer chap, you can ask until the cows come home, however the truthers will never engage when they see they have been found out,i would give up now if i were you while you still have the will to live.

Thanks for bouncing my Richard Gage WTC collapse demonstration post. I am really disappointed that such a simple question to a 3 minute video, which I have asked 5 times, has been totally ignored.

Yet I have been asked to read pdf documents of 25 pages long, and conspiracy videos that are 4 hours in length.

Answer me one question, do you actually support Brighton & Hove Albion? as I never ever see you post anything remotely football related, ever!

Yes I do support Brighton and Hove Albion. In all honesty though I have lost a lot of interest since the re branding of our club name from rangers to Albion. I think the 2 point system is a lot more logical and see no reason why they've changed the rules for Keepers not being allowed to pick up back passes? The game is changing for the worst!
Now I've answered your question, can you now answer mine? I never see you posting about shampoo and conditioner, ever! do you ever clean your hair Hitony?

What is the answer to stopping lies and ignorance being spread on the internet in your opinion?

Just believe in people and even if you don't, at least respect them for having an alternative angle, don't just start insulting them with crappy analytical responses about other 'conspiracy theorist you've met'.
Judging them isn't much love, onelove. You've made the call we are ignorant and liars, you're the one claiming for sure what the answers are. We are just speculating info which doesn't get through main stream media, there's no harm in detective work, it's better than being ignorant.

Ps I hope the Hillsborough conspiracy theorists didn't get this sort of bother!

i spotted someone trying to make this point earlier. coverups are not the same as conspiracy theories.

no one has ever suggested that the Yorkshire police, in cahoorts with the government (or other national or international organisation) planned to create the events of Hillsborough. the suggestion was only ever that their version of event was false and that has transpired to be the case. how you can compare this to suggetion that a government orchestrated a major event to create a pretext to another event of national orglobal significance, beggers believe.

this highlights the very problem with conspiracy theories, they often hide potential real conspriracies and wrong doing as everyone rolls their eyes and leaves the subject alone. there are plenty of "eh?" about the official version of 9/11, but rather than rationally approaching that as a series of probing questions, a massive incoherent and complex alternative version of history is concocted. the day someone ran with the idea of controlled demolition, they killed off potential that the details of the people and circumstances behind the event would be held to deeper scrutiny. in attempting to find some "truth", the real story is hidden behind more layers of misdirection and deception of your own making. too bad.

I don't buy into most conspiracy theories. But I have no doubt in the following: There was at least a second gunman that shot JFK. The world trade centre buildings did not collapse due to the planes hitting. Whatever hit the pentagon was not a plane.

The way we've been told about that event from Police, newspapers and journalists (officials) wasn't true. Blame the system, not the whistle blowers.
