I didn't watch the game last night - it started at 2:30a.m and I have to be up at 7 for work. I've just finished watching the replay now. After reading all the negativity on here I was expecting an absolute stinker of a performance but really, it wasn't that bad. First half we weren't great but didn't really deserve to be behind(although it was yet another, to add to the many already, poor goal to concede). Second half was better and not too dissimilar to a lot of our performances this season. Certainly not the worst 90 premier league minutes we've experienced.

We looked like what we are; a team with one win in ten, near the foot of the table, struggling with confidence playing a style that leaves us hugely open and vulnerable when we lose the ball. Hopefully coming form behind to get draws in consecutive must not lose matches, combined with a couple of weeks away from competitive action and the subsequent time that can be spent on the training ground will help rebuild some of that lost confidence.

In the stadium on the night, my assessment was:
Watford bossed the game from about 10 minutes in up to 60 minutes, we were hopeless in that period - slow of mind and deeds, you name it, reminiscent of CH's 2019 months.

The difference now, we belatedly sprung into life, Alzate and Jahanbakhsh driving us forward, cocky Watford began to fall apart.

So it definitely wasn't at the depths of Cardiff, Stains or Bmuff outclassing us.

A lot of the despondency is simply that winnable games are running out. That was our last home match against a bottom 6 team.

Agree with that.

If you can find the thread attached to that interview, you might find NSC was broadly in favour.

For all I know a cross reference of that thread, this and the one attached to Naylor's article might even find some conflicted posters.

Well you could go further back and find the same criticisms of Ashworth immediatley after Hughton was sacked from largely the same people (i.e. both myself and Goldstone felt CH had been undermined). Not to mention that article was from OCTOBER when we were doing well and when it was too soon to assess the likes of Webster and Trossard. This week, however, was after yet another abject failure of a transfer window, something you yourself pointed out in correctly assessing our inability to get a striker.

Nor does changing your mind or being convinced of something consist of something bad, It's just more easy to spot in the written medium of the internet. You, for example, post anti-car thread after anti-car thread and then asked NSC for help with your car.

It just all seems very hollow if these very long term appointments are going to be judged every 3 months, with the strong responses being entirely dependent on the previous couple of game.

TB has put in a 5 to 10 year plan and posters want to rip it up after 6 months.

I hope none of them have mocked palace, West Ham, Everton et al for playing fast and loose with their 'planning'.

Palace will be bottom six after losing to Newcastle and we have beaten Sheffield Utd - then we play them at home.

The standard of the whole league has been dreadful for the last 18 months or so.

You could relegate almost any team and it really wouldnt make a difference.

Indeed. With the exception of Man City, Liverpool and perhaps Leicester who consistantly punch above their weight, I can't think of another side that would be missed. United have been abject for much of this season, ditto Arsenal under Emery and your Spurs at the start of the season.

Our saving grace may be that there simply end up being three slightly worse sides, though it will probably still need us to get results against the aforementioned Man U and Arsenal now.

Christ on a bike! This is the same league that produced the finalists for both the Champions League and the Europa League last season. The same league that gave us the champions with 98 points. The standard of Liverpool this season has been dreadful?????

Many 'everything's perfect at the Albion, we're mid-table' people this season have mocked variously Stains, Palace, Everton and Newcastle as Championship bound. The league decided in October apparently.

The arrogant mocking and almost died a death.

.

It's a good job you don't work in a planning capacity in a corporate organisation then.

Of course there are always long term strategic goals but the tactics used to get there inevitably change from time to time. People join, people leave, legislation changes, funding changes and you adjust your target model and how you get there accordingly.

Relegation won't be in TB's 5 year plan though there will, of course, be a contingency plan in place, just in case it does happen,

Leicester and Wolves are just about in the Good list.

Ill give Sheff United a pass as well as its the first season and they have adapted.

Spurs/Arsenal/United/Everton have been abysmal with Chelsea slightly better.

The level of defending is the lowest I can remember, I credit it to everyone wanting to try and play it out from the back

Agreed

If we moved the ball more quickly and accurately maybe we could have caught an 11 behind the ball team out on one or two more occasions. Everton were also poor until they got the second. I just think it is the way of the premiership this season, the only team that don't seem to be having stinky games is Liverpool. We are still picking up points and will have enough come he end of the season. On the plus side I met a very nice chap and we had pint and a really good chat.

Spurs fluked the way to the final, not that I really care - They should have been knocked out in the group stages.

Liverpool dominating the league backs my point up really.

It's really interesting the difference in perspective you get when watching a game live and watching it as a rerun safe in the knowledge of the result. A lot (all...) of the stress and worry is taken out. I can understand the feeling of missed opportunity but I feel like it's a culmination of the last four games rather than this particular one. This game felt, in particular the second half, like it was very similar to many games this season. The problems that have been there all season were on show, just maybe heightened by nerves, games beginning to run out and lack of confidence.

I reckon I might have been as disgruntled as m

I appear to have lost the ability to edit so I'll finish my sentence here:

I think I might have been as disgruntled as most if I'd watched live and had experienced all the emotions, adrenaline and frustrations of the live experience. _A bit of time and distance does wonders for your perspective though!

Really good point about knowing the result, then watching a reply ... most of the angst is taken away.

In the NS there was a noticeable booing at the blowing of the half time whistle, plus in that awful 50 minutes people telling the likes of Gross and Mooy to f*cking do this or the other.

Players such as Will Hughes it seemed were smirking, such was their control.

Thankfully Alzate and Jahanbakhsh helped to turn things around.

Let's face it that was possibly the worst Premier League game ever in terms of quality.

Brighton players - hang your heads in shame.
Watford players - hang your heads in shame
Referee and utterly useless "can't make a decision" linos - hang your heads in shame

Potter, Ashworth, Barber, Bloom - ditto

£50 ish for a one off ticket for that? Barely League Two standard all round. A complete rip off. BT Sport must have been crying.

That first 2.5 minutes though.....

We didn't play great but still got the draw, that's a positive sign if you choose to look at things positively. Surely?

First half we didn't click and looked very shaky at the back. 2nd half we were much better. Played with more intensity, kept being able to win the ball back through our pressing, linked up a few times with nice attacking moves and generally dominated the whole of that half.

The biggest negative from that game for me is how our fans are now turning into those whingey, precious Prem fans who won't accept anything less than a win and a superb performance otherwise everyone is shite, the manager must go, the board have seriously cocked up and our fan base is being robbed.
What's happened to us? This is Prem football, we're a small club by Prem levels so if you want to sack a manger by assuming the next bloke who comes in is just going to turn all these draws into wins, then you're unfortunately getting as deluded as the TV pundits who talk football as if a footballing dilemma is actually a world crisis.

We've got a manager who wants to entertain us with good football but yet it seem our fans just want 3 points through the ugly stuff we did last year which everyone was complaining about . The style of football we're playing could take us places if/when it all comes together, but yet I hear people already wanting us to bring back CH who would without doubt have us playing just like the way the opposition did yesterday. Brilliant, how ambitious and monies-worth will that be staying up with that style of football knowing we've then got to endure it all over agin next season and so on until we finally get relegated which is the inevitable when teams set up to play safe every season.

The club is trying to be more positive and the fans have decided to become more negative. It's a joke.

One point gained. one lost in the last four matches, won as many as arsenal this season plus we're able to change things around when the going gets tough like we have in the last 2 matches . Ridiculous we're already starting to cry about this sort of form from a team like us. Give it a few more seasons and people will be complaining how we're not going anywhere when we're finishing comfortably mid-table still in the top flight

First time I'm starting to miss the Withdean.
