Early 90s, what a time. Did you attend the legal raves, passion, mantra and so on

Anyone our age (I'm 47, guessing you must be similar) had the best of times early to mid 90s with clubs and drugs

Did the two events you've mentioned above (at the Event!) religiously for about a year, that progressed to The Zap for banging Friday nights until (stupid o'clock some nights) late.

Best of times, it really was..............if you were into the music and drugs that is

I can confirm that the best of times were also had 10 years later. And probably 10 years after that too

But they don't though. Ever. And won't. Can you see hundreds of people pilled out of their minds at 6am on hands and knees picking up empty plastic cups and used condoms, and stowing them in their cars before driving home (intoxicated) and responsibly disposing of it?

This is typical "oh let the kids have fun"... there's a reason why not, because they don't and won't respect leeway with respect in return

They can clear up the following day, or all club together to pay for a professional outfit to clear up any mess. It's not that hard to think of similar logic.

But they don’t and won’t. The only way this might happens is if the “event” is legal, ie farmer’s permission to use land, licences, etc, etc

No, I have never said my posts are a wind up. You’re quoting someone else who misinterpreted, or wasn’t able to fully comprehend/understand for whatever reason, an explanation I gave to him in person and then again in a post on here.

And I never said I support drink or drug driving. Whilst we’re on this subject, have you been drinking? Might explain a few things.

Again, it sounds like your problem is that the police are trying to control a situation which could easily lead to loss of life and serious crime. You out an awful lot of faith in people who leave Glastonbury looking like this every year.

And Glastonbury is a *controlled* environment.

At raves; drug dealing, possession of class A drugs, criminal damage and vandalism, underage drinking/drug use. And how do people reach/leave raves in the middle of nowhere at 5am? Public transport then a hike? Or do they all bring designated drivers?

They drive home intoxicated on alcohol and drugs, putting innocent drivers on the road at fatal risk.

The police do all that they can with the resources available to stop these selfish ********.

You must be fun at parties. Bore off judging others for doing drugs etc, its become pretty apparent that no one is fussed by drugs so much these days and you'll barely get any trouble at raves because everyone attending are usually loved up and just there for the music and a good time. It's the Police who decide to put all their efforts into dispersing raves, when really, it's not exactly a riot or people being murdered.

As long as it's all cleared up, I'm all for it.

Used to head out to the odd barn or field rave out by Gatwick in 90’s. Brilliant times. Did a couple every summer. For about ten years.
I dabbled in the new age thing for a very short time over a summer in the mid 90’s. Most of the people I travelled with are now married with kids. They clean their huge houses while listening to music they used to dance their tits off to. That’s life I guess. I’m stillin touch with a few of them, we go camping occasionally but the heaviest it gets is some rum and a bit of guitar. A couple of them are still on the road but they’re pretty burned out these days.

It was a good summer packed with experience but I like my creature comforts too much to do that permanently.

Roads, paths and gates all blocked. Farmers can’t get to their stock. Drugged up drivers all over the place (according to a press report) and you think for a second they’ll clear up after themselves ? Basically like having particularly noisy travellers decamp for a couple of days then **** off leaving their mess behind them.

I see both sides to the argument. I enjoyed raves and I think young people should do too. But they do disturb wildlife and crate mess.
In these cases, for some reason against my 40 something sensibilities, I come down on the side of the ravers.

As for farmers, they **** up the countryside on an industrial scale on a daily basis so they are in no position to moan.

Farmers are mostly money oriented…….if they were approached in advance most would I suspect happily let the raves happen on their land for a few quid. Organise them properly and clear up after and there’s no harm done

Except the Tories have banned all festivals , clubs , etc since March 2020 with no end in sight

A man has been stabbed to death at an illegal rave near Millwall FC's ground.

Police found the 26-year-old victim at an "unlicensed music event" in an industrial unit in Stockholm Road in south Bermondsey, south-east London, at about 23:50 BST on Saturday.

He was treated by officers and paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy who was found at the scene with head injuries has been arrested in connection with the rave.

Good question. Maybe the same way that people who live in remote-ish towns and villages do? Must happen all over the country? How does a teen living in Piddinghoe and wanting to go clubbing in Brighton get home? And his parents who want a nice dinner with some wine?
