Oh dear, not part of society then ? so you won't benefit by a properly funded NHS ? do you have children currently at school ? would you like your children to have a better education than you ? As for shit pay and pensions, don't expect this to change under the current regime.

My workplace pension was reluctantly put in place by my employer after legally deferring it for as long as possible and then contributing the legal minimum they can. I'm ten years from retirement and I'm matching my employers contribution and my projected pension upon retirement ..... £356 a YEAR ! So currently we have an economy where benefits and food banks support the working poor across huge swathes of the country, are the Tories suddenly going to change this ? so, what's the alternative and where is it going to come from ?

I have no faith in the Labour Party looking after me or my family and imho you shouldn’t put your faith in them either, your going to be disappointed if/when Labour get the keys to no. 10!

You clearly don't see the contradiction here and accuse an other poster of being thick.. On the one hand, there is zero chance of the unions flexing their muscles, and then on the other employees relying on the unions to improve their pay and conditions.

I doubt very much if the Trade Unions will come back to the numbers of members they had in the 70's. There needs to be some kind of workplace legislation to actively try to improve pay and conditions as currently it seems companies can hide their profits with impunity. However, Chicken Run is thick, lord knows I've tried.

Ah yes the myth that Labour policies are bad for the economy even though historical evidence suggest the exact opposite...

Its not a myth its established fact, the debate, the serious ones you avoid are about the trade of between growth and equity. Not some kind of fantasy wankfest that leftish policies produce marvellous growth rates, they dont,

Would be good if it was privatised, I wouldn't have to put up with the labour party moaning about it and being negative 24/7. Happy to pay more for it too.

Well if we all paid a bit more instead of expecting a top class service for nothing then people would also get the help when they fall on bad times.

Agree. Not all of them but enough. I have waxed lyrical on this previously. I can't see how a genuine conservative could stomach a socialist health care system (or school system for that matter.....oh....hang on)

I heard a GP on the radio a couple of days ago, she said that if she refers anyone to a specialist/consultant the referral letter is now first sent to an outside private company that reviews the diagnosis and then sends it on to the specialist/consultant. She said that she had 30 years experience as a GP and felt not only insulted by the act of checking her diagnosis, but angry the diagnosis is checked by less experienced people than her AND that the company gets paid by the NHS !

Not wishing to sound racist but could that not be because many have qualified outside of the UK where the qualification may not be so difficult, whether it be in Asia Africa or Eastern Europe. I knew a girl, eldest sons ex girlfriend, who was an SRN and applied for a job in Florida and was going to have to sit a test on her medical knowledge before acceptance. Do we do the same?

Similar situation with capability assessments being done by Atos and Capita for The DWP for PIP and ESA - they and their tick boxes know better than an NHS GP or Consultant who knows the claimant and their condition far better.

Of course we do the same. Qualified practitioners are exactly that. Red herring, BG.

I think it was John Major who said one of the most important things he was told when he became an MP was to go and get a range of colours of raffle tickets so you can stick the appropriate colour strip in your chest pocket at events to point at and smile when people approach you to sell some.
It avoids the embarrassment of having to collect a prize and then potentially being perceived as being flash by declining it ..... and saves you a small fortune.
Retrospectively, I quite like John Major.

Compared to the current shower of shit.

I think you are replying to the wrong post BG ? I mentioned in my post that the GP in question had 30 years experience as a GP....no hint of any accent so I'm assuming she was born here.

Its not a myth its established fact, the debate, the serious ones you avoid are about the trade of between growth and equity. Not some kind of fantasy wankfest that leftish policies produce marvellous growth rates, they dont,

It’s a myth perpetuated by people who are politically and economically illiterate. And if Labour’s economic policy is such a ‘wank fest’ why did 129 leading economists sign an open letter prior to the snap election? The letter articulated full support for the investment-focused economic policies outlined in the Labour manifesto. The letter claimed that the policies are designed to “strengthen and develop the economy” and ensure developments are “sustainable”. What’s more, the letter boldly claimed, the policies are based on “sound estimations” – surely not a phrase to be associated with the myth that you’d have us believe. What’s more, it claimed that Conservative policy on the other hand would ‘slow the economy at a crucial juncture”.
