How in touch are you ? are you still in Bournemouth 1970 ? there are so few union members these days there is zero chance of a Labour government being held to ransom by unions. have you not noticed that people are flocking to the Labour cause because they see their pay and conditions and public services constantly being eroded ? And your last point, I am really lucky, I have no mortgage and no rent to pay thanks to hard work and a couple of redundancies and a divorce, however, I will never be rich as what cash I have will slip through my fingers like sand...Go on, crack on about the unions and lefties. The reality is that the tide is turning because too many people feel they have been left behind and that the economy " Does not work for them . May, Theresa,".

How thick are you that you can't see how sad this country has become and how devoid Mrs May is of ideas to change anything ? so, vote Tory for a continual slide in to the abyss or vote Labour for a hope of change for the better.

Oh dear listen to yourself. You haven't seen the abyss yet, vote labour and you soon will

You don't seem keen to highlight Labour shortcomings. Especially momentum aka The stasi. This vile organisation was the what was called militant tendency back in the 80s. Remember Hatton? Jon lansman was a young memberbback then but has now grown up and organised his own modern version. Same people same communist views different name.

In the unlikely event of Corbyn having two terms as prime minister with a decent working majority this country wound end up as socialist as Germany, that well known lunatic Marxist state.
As for your contention that Momentum are Militant in New clothes, there may be an element of truth in that there are a few old faces turned up. Though similarly I've been on an away trip with Brighton and spotted a man of my acquaintance with a serious hooligan past among our support but that didn't make us the Inter City Firm.
Meanwhile momentum is doing a good job of dismantling the structures of Progress, the actual entryist undemocratic bullying force in the Labour party, but being right wing neo liberal is moderate apparently.

So what are we in currently with our record debt, record defecit, no public assets, record homelessness, record poverty, record children in care, record waits in hospital?
I'm glad you're moving in a bubble where all is rosy but things are far worse the the majority of the population.
Whatever your take on spending priorities I don't see how you can get lower than a government that spends millions fighting freedom of information requests so we can't find out how many austerity kills, and hounds disabled people to despair and death at a net loss to the taxpayer.

I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee. I take it you haven't experienced a Labour government before. The union's will have them by the short and curlies. That's when you will see jobs emigrating to other countries and unemployment rocketing. Seems a bit weird from someone who is always pleading poverty

None of that happend under 3 consecutive Mr Tony governments. If you want to go back into the distant past to make a point I give you an East London tory election slogan from the 60s: 'If you want a n****r for a neighbour, vote labour'. I would prefer to compare the present tories (not racist) and the present labour (who knows, to be fair, but not in hock to unions like in the 70s). The past is another country.

Seriously, the majority of people don’t actually work in public service, how the hell are the Labour Party ever going to help anyone but those is public service?

Shameful behaviour

[tweet]953619886042906625[/tweet]

Here is a reality for you Ernest. I recently was at a trade fair touting for business. I was chatting with the head of a company that I was hoping to deal with in the future, during the conversation one of his staff came over and interrupted and invited me to donate to the company's chosen charity. This was a perfectly legitimate charity supporting an admirable cause, but not one that I associate with, I have my own pet causes. What do you think I did? Yes, I handed over £20. There was no way in the world I could not do so in front of the Managing Director whom I was trying to sweet talk Did I try to claim it back? No, as I knew my accountant would laugh at me.

But as an MP I wonder just how many times they are asked for charitable donations, probably multiple times per week I would guess. And whatever the MP does they are on a loser, be it financially if they donate, loss of goodwill if they refuse, or in reputation if they try to claim it back in some way.

But hey ho ERNs, you are OK there in your ivory tower, having never broken any kind of moral code no doubt

The first 11 posts or so nicely sum up the state of political discourse in this country :

Your lot are bad
Well your lot are worse
Repeat

How else would anyone get elected? They wouldn't want to go around improving things for people would they?

Hopefully you will throw the old " If labour get in I'm emigrating " card..... tara.

I hope not. The last thing I want is a load of Tories getting in my progressive and European way. Send the buggers back.

Er ? confused by your angle here ? support for public services means the removal of the wage cap of 1% and actually putting money in to funding those services rather than the current slow decline and loss of things we once held dear. Why should public service workers at the sharp end have their wages cut year on year by a combination of little or no pay rises and inflation ?...

Good posts Ernest. With the relentless sniping and scaremongering about what Corbyn may or may not do, lest we forget - what the torys are continuing to actually do. 'He met members of the IRA in the 1980s' can't be the rabbit to pull out of the hat to absolve the torys of all and every one of their continuing omnishambolic cluster****s. I don't like Corbyn as you may have noticed, but I will be voting tactically down my way to maximise the local tory's chance of losing his seat, even if that means voting labour. For the time being my politics are 'anyone but conservative'. It isn't as if the torys haven't run down our armed forces, undermined our economy, and covered our future with a patina of shit, blasted out of the bottom of their Brexit fiasco, so 'what's there to lose' is likely to be a common thought in the minds of those voting labour, possibly for the first time, next time. Whether this is wise or not, who knows, but some time you just have to get rid.

I can't wish you good luck with that one; however, I can remember your namesake bombing down the 'left wing' or at least giving the ball a mighty belt to the left wing!
Happy days:thumbsup:
