As unsavoury as that isolated incident was, no arrests though. And no violence. No serious comparisons here.

Women's tennis has had more stadium incidents than women's football since the 1993 Seles stabbing with male coaches and domineering fathers.

It's not hard to see why there isn't any off-pitch aggro in the women's game.

1. Far fewer people attending.
2. A tiny number of away fans.
2. Men don't generally attend, other than fathers with their children.

It was more a comment in relation to 'family friendly'. Palace have a certain (and small) cohort of blokes that follow the women's team that don't really fit the usual profile.

Fair enough then, but there's been no media mention of any issues, even with thousands at Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs derby games.

The only kicking off that's likely to happen will be one side at the start of the 1st half and the other at the start of the 2nd.

And the only police kettle needed will be for their half-time teas and coffees.

I do agree with the consensus that any trouble is extremely unlikely to occur, I more wonder if either club will jump the gun and provide additional resources just in case, even if they're not needed ultimately.

Half of me thinks it would be prudent to do this. Prevention is better than cure and all that.

The other half of me wonders whether that might create or engineer a problem where one doesn't actually exist, for now at least.

Regardless, playing the Palace home fixture at the Amex would make any segregation much easier as well as boosting the attendance*.

* That is, if it's a weekend afternoon game and not one that's an evening fixture. Come on, Albion. Think this one through...

Not even surprised, she really had to be in there. Incredibly pivotal for the club. And Bunny Shaw is probably the most deserved winner possible, just dominant to an absurd degree.

Having seen it back, that's a little generous from BBC Sport. In a tight game, it was a really soft decisive goal to concede.

5 home defeats in a row now for Albion Women. Terland's goals have papered over the defensive cracks.

PBOBE mentioned at the Fans Forum that the club are working hard on this (or words to that effect), and at the End of Season Awards TBMBE (Uncle Tony) also mentioned it in a fairly prominent manner.

Have there been any whispers of sites that could be considered? I get the feeling that they must be hopeful of making an announcement in the next few months.
I don't think it's their style to leak news if it is a non-runner.

Where the pitches next to the Amex used by the Uni/Academy are.

Falmer preferred site for new Brighton Women stadium

Falmer is, by some margin, the most sensible site logistically. If they can make it work that would be wonderful. If the playing fields next to the station work that is, of course, ideal. I do think it's a bit of a tight squeeze though

It seems to be more and more difficult to build in the WSL as the usual suspects are buying all the talent in the same way as they do in the EPL. An article in the Guardian about Katie Robinson quotes her as saying:

“I want to be playing with and against the best players at the highest level"
"So, for me, the next decision is really important. I want to challenge myself to play at the highest level and it could be that a new challenge is the right thing to do.”

As with the men's game the same organisations seem to have everyone believing that more storied club names and higher wages mean that they are playing at a different level than the teams they are competing against. It's not a higher level, it's the same level with better paid players. If it's anything like Caicedo, Mac Allister, Trossard, Cucurella, White et al, the article's final line: "That experience of training alongside some of the best players in the world gave her a taste for it. Now, she wants more." could be missing the last word "money".

Please note that, harsh though this sounds, I intend no criticism of the player. Who wouldn't want the leap in salary that could come with moving to one of the beomoths? In her shoes, and in those of the EPL players I've named, we'd all probably jump at the opportunity. It's just frustrating that these few clubs always use wealth to turn any interesting competitive leagues into dull head-to-heads between a few playthings of the superrich.

Thanks for posting the article, I'd missed that.

She hasn't been at her best this season, but then that applies to a lot of the team plus the disruption with managers changing, but I'd always thought she'd probably move on to a 'bigger' club this summer. If we could keep hold of her and Terland (fingers and everything else crossed) than that would be excellent but the manager situation needs to be sorted out for people to want to stay. Not sure Harris is the answer going forward if we want to fulfil the ambition of being a top 4 club, though thats pretty much a pipedream with the way that Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, and Arsenal take the top talent.

I don't see us being an 'attractive' place to come (training ground aside) until the stadium is sorted out - Crawley is just not appealing on so many fronts! Just have to hope we are still in the WSL when that is completed (whenever that will be).

Agree that the player hoarding is frustrating. I have some misplaced hope based on the likes of Russo and AKB that players aren't always standing for it though, and are looking for minutes not bench warming. Particularly those with international aspirations.

Have to disagree on there not being a higher level though. There is obvious stratification in the wsl but there's also the fa and conti cup and Europe on offer. Of course a player like Robbo wants silverware. Robbo also wants to be an England senior pick and that's not likely if she remains at Brighton. The money has got to be a sweetener but vanishingly few players are making the sort of money that doesn't need a career after retirement and I don't begrudge them maximising earnings while they can. We're not the sort of club who are ever going to compete on that basis.

I have seen little to suggest Robinson has the ability to move up. If one of the bigger teams did take her on I cannot see it being a smart long term move for her career although it would, no doubt, improve her bank balance.
