Assuming all of those sign, i still think we will go down unless we bring in at least 3 good, experienced players. Only time will tell i guess.

I'm actually pretty pleased with that. very good idea to keep Oatway on a month-to-month.

I may be a mug but I really do believe that we will bring in at least 3 players better than we already have or 2 and retain Bertin. I'm normally quite sceptical in the close season but I think Wilkins has good contacts/reputation and has been pretty succesfull considering our plight recently.

Quite - he was at the Nou Camp over the weekend.

Bertin is the main worry as he could walk into any League one side and probably most Championship side. But we'll see, he does want to make a name for himself in the UK so maybe one more year with us?

I just hope we can get a few decent signings in. We seem to have a lot of players up front how are just a bit short of what we need. Revell when fully fit and Elder once his fitness improves may have a good season, but we still need that 20+ goal scorer.

Expect loads of "my mate" and "this source" said type of threads for the next 3 months.

See i'm not sure he's got that much in the way of contacts myself (look at the players he's bought in so far, and it's only hard to see who the contact is for Savage and Ward), nor do i think Bertin is quite what he's cracked up to be. However, it's a bit early to start worrying yet, as we've still got 2 and a half months to actually get the players in.

If come the first week in August our squad isn't much difference, THEN i'll safely declare we are doomed:)

Still need a RB, cover CB, LB, cover RW, cover CM, Striker.

I make that 6 players.

RB - Whing (?), El-Abd, Hart
LB - Mayo, Rents, Cobbs, Lynch (at a push)
CB - Butters, Lynch, Hinshelwood, Elphick, Rehman (?)
RW - Cox, Robinson, Hart
CM - Hammond, Reid, El-Abd, Mayo, Bertin (here's hoping), Hinshelwood (no, really), Cox
Striker - Assuming you mean a 25-goal a season striker, f*** knows.

Yeah, I'll say CB, CM if Bertin doesn't join, Striker as chief priority - strenghten the spine.

We need to shed 2 of our 6 strikers as well, probably on loans, but we are top heavy with strikers that will not get enough goals at present.

Gargan will be sent out on loan (club have said all new youth signings will be) and hopefully Gatting too.

6 players will never happen, Leslie! Anyway, I don't think we need "cover" players - we have loads of those. What we need are three quality first-teamers who can come in and make a difference, and in my opinion they should be a right-back, a striker, and a midfielder who can get forward and create something.

I agree, although i think that's a minimum.
I expect some of the mentioned 'cover' players will come on loan...and you'd like to think we'd be able to borrow better players than the lot we already have, meaning that some of this years regulars perhaps turn into 'cover' players.
