I am disgusted by not only the sentences but also with argus for running with this story.
Have met some of these lads on a few occasions and have nothing but respect for them. My thoughts are with them and their families.
The way argus hangs them out will only hurt their wifes, kids, parents, grand parents etc. This after 74 died in Egypt yesterday..... Speaks volume about the argus in my mind

I hope they get out very soon!

Haven't people realised that if you start a fight in or around a football match you will probably go to jail?

If you get involved with violence that is in some way 'assiociated' with football then I believe it is dealt with under different terms with regards to the courts, it's not regarded as a punch-up in the street.

Is that really what football violence has come to these days? I think that's the worst fight I've ever seen. I've seen better ones ON the pitch. And at school.

Das, you're 'ITK', are these top boys? Why did they keep running away from each other? I thought they wanted to fight?

I am genuinely shocked by the poor quality of the fighting. From the video I saw about three punches thrown, none of which connected, and someone throwing a bit of wood. Do they actually want to fight, or not?

Could it be that once the police aren't there to protect them that they actually aren't quite as brave as they make out?

But yes, I agree the sentences are ridiculous. Anyone going to prison for that embarrassing bit of handbags has been seriously hard done by. Releasing the video should have been enough of a punishment, if I considered myself a hooligan and saw myself doing what they were doing in that video then I would be embarrassed. What happened to actual, proper, fighting between hooligans? This country has gone to the dogs.

You know when they bring in families of gang violence (proper violence where people actually get hurt and die) to talk to young gang members to try to get them to turn their lives around? Well they should do that with this, show these 17 year olds who think they are hooligans this video, and let them see what they actually look like. It might just be enough to embarrass them out of it.

If you read the article, it says 15minute tear up. How long is that video 2minutes maximum?

I believe after what the dominoes delivery driver told me nothing really happened in the video there because there was sirens coming from all angles and police cars coming up and down the hill, so for anyone who doesnt actually know what happened to comment is beyond me. If the whole 15 minutes was on video I bet you there would be more than 12 people up before the courts.

The true fact of the matter is nobody should of seen any footage as it was recorded by a grass. This is my opinion of course

I don't believe it was for 15 minutes. How many times have you ever seen anything like that go on for that long?

So you are suggesting that just before the video started it was a proper toe to toe, punches thrown all over the place, fight, but then once the video started they resorted to posturing, shouting and running away from each other?

Obviously I wasn't there, so I don't know, but that seems pretty unlikely.

To be fair there was someone sparked out on the floor and the report said there was a broken arm and wounding from glass so something else must've happened. Probably an initial fight until some people got hurt, then 14 minutes of running up and down the road.

Agree that video does look pretty stupid, just everyone running away from each other. Guess nobody wants to get hit with a bat again :lolol:

A lot of people from both sides have said it was atleast 10minutes and like what was just said there was injuries, one of the fellas in the artice has a massive black eye obviously taken from after the event.

I believe it was because police were coming and nobody knew what to do. When your in that type of environment you are not going to know what to do whether to run, whether to go back into the thick of things etc

I watched the vid on The Argus site yesterday.Sounds like the guy filming it refers to the unconcious guy as 'f***ed'.

Interesting comments, and my curiosity is piqued;
How did it happen that these respectable lads got into this fray, and how did it not get conveyed in a courtroom that they are in some ways victims?
