12 convictions from an incident allegedly involving \'over a hundred\' (quote - The Argus)....I\'d say job done, badly.

Newbury, Berkshire.
some of the sentances were a joke for what went on, got to feel for our lads , made out to be far worse if you read the prosecution statement. thoughts ?

You're not following Queensbury rules ......... And you're all very silly for not wearing proper protective headgear.

You'll all end up like Mohammed Ali you know.

Just looked at the argus article, that crime reporter is a moron, does he think he's writing a crime novel or something "The quiet streets of Albion Hill and Grove Hill, flanked by blocks of flats, echoed to the sounds of shouting and swearing on Saturday" Where do they find these people and how have they got jobs

As for the sentences, this tells you all you need to know "Benjamin Goodwin described the fight as “pretty messy” in a text message afterwards.

The 22-year-old, of Foredown Drive, Portslade, is an account manager at an energy company and was previously of good character."

12 month prison sentence for first offense is incredible, would never happen in any other situation. It doesn't actually say what any of them got convicted of, or what evidence was against them, such is the shitness of the article.

Sentences very harsh but when you reach the bottom line, the only thing to do is climb and pick yourself off the floor! :guitar:

Spurs and Aberdeen have always had some kind of link up. Bit like chelsea have with rangers - they call themselves blues brothers
Chelski,Rangers and also Lindfeild in N.Irleand are the "blues Brothers", I think they all share certain "political" beliefs aswell

1 of the Spurs fans had already served time for stashing Saws,Hammers and Axes in a bush a pub prior to a fight against Chelsea. Dont get me wrong i like a rivalry as much as the next bloke but a f***ing Axe ! Mental
The saws were ok in your book lol
We've all had a bit of fun fighting with saws and hammers, but an axe is just unnecessary.

Pathetic sentencing, christ you get fights every friday and saturday that probably end up worse yet for that you would probably get a slap on the wrist or a 80 note fine???

Christ some drink drivers who kill while banned get less, the system is unreal:nono:

That's the trouble with fighting in and around football grounds now. The Judges and Magistrates have been told to come down hard on 'football thugs' or so I'm told. So even being there and not being able to prove you weren't fighting, it seems you will go down for it. I don't agree in the slightest with football violence, but even less for innocents going down.

Agree, the sentencing was ridiculous, as was the article about it but that's the shit you get with The Argus.

Slightly amusing side point to this is that the banning orders they've now got would not prevent them from being at the location where this run-in (I hesitate to call it a fight) took place.

timbha - this made me laugh
.
One thing I dont get is that if they rented some private industrial estate, or some place at say Shoreham dockyard then they could probably get on with it and nobody would care and if on private property among consenting adults it might even be difficult to prosecute. However I'm not sure if the sentences are harsh because people shouldnt be fighting outside someone else's house. Personally I would let them on the pitch 30 minutes after the game to get on with it. This would save everyone the bother of worrying about it, also save a huge police bill and take the "naughty boy" aspect away and that would be the end of it.
