Below is why we are in trouble spending money on players we don't need or who are not up to making a real contribution.

Hughton, Potter and anyone else couldn't do much more with the squad we have. Unfortunately Potter is also starting to look naïve.

Adam Webster - £22,500,000 Not Needed
Matthew Clarke - £5,000,000 Not Needed
Alireza Jahanbakhsh - £17,100,000 Two moments otherwise anonymous
Yves Bissouma - £15,210,000 Player in there somewhere but we needed someone who could make a contribution straight away. Were not Liverpool with the luxury of having time for players to develop
Jürgen Locadia - £14,000,000 oh dear

Would rather have kept Sam Baldock and Tomer than spunked money on Locardia etc at least they would have been up for it!

I think GP has been dealt a harsh hand. This squad is still largely he same as the one that stunk out the PL last year.

No it isn't - Brighton effectively broke their transfer record 4 times in the off-season if you take Mooy at his value on a full transfer - on top of that Potter has had two players coming through from the academy. In most games he has five or six players on the pitch who weren't in the squad last season - and those that they replaced are playing in the Championship or in weaker national leagues.

Now you can argue that the players that came in aren't any good - but you cannot argue that the squad is the same as last season.

Terrable defending Webster was at fault for two of the goals he is currently a liability we need Duffy Dunk, Trossard skill full undoubtably but a luxury player cannot tackle cannot head the ball, Maupay was really unlucky on another day could have had a hattrick, Mooy could have had two goals, the Bournemouth Keeper was outstanding, not sure Connely touched the ball in the half hour he was on the pitch while March looked a better option, we are now officially in trouble big time so lets officially announce

"LET THE BEDWETTING COMMENCE"

I'm off to bed

:clap::banana: yep miserable but onwards and err upwards:drool:

Or spent that lot on one real quality striker

Yes they have a good striker who scored alot of goals!

But wasn't he playing at the start of the season?

They have some outstanding players, better than ours, who got their confidence back. Redmond, Ings, Bertrand, Romeu, Armstrong and Ward-Prowse would improve us no end.

I agree with some of them being worth having, but why did their confidence go, in the first place???

He didn't. I wouldn't say any of those saves was particularly difficult.

It’s the go-to excuse being used by those who won’t accept we’re in deep shit.

WHAT A PERFORMANCE

Aaron Ramsdale was superb tonight. Some stunning saves from the Bournemouth man to keep Brighton at bay. Brighton will be wondering how they didn't win this one, given their possession and chances...

I’m sure you’re right though

We barely stayed up, and only because teams were inferior than this season, this team is weaker than last year Murray is not the same player and can’t be expected to save us this season, Stephens should have been upgraded. Tactics are only part of the problem, you need the players to be a: intelligent enough to carry out orders & b: good enough — sadly we have neither

Anyway I’m not actually bothered if we go down, I will still be supporting Thee Albion, and frankly I’m not a fan of the premier league, plastic fans, VAR, shitty kick off times, and over coverage love in by all the media of the “big six” it’s pony......

Who wants to finish 10th or 13th every boring season....

We’re thee Albion.... it should be promotion, followed by relegation, relegation, season of calm, promotion, repeat repeat, steady boring eddy is not what we do or want is it....

10th or 13th, dream on.

We’re a 16th to 20th club, based on squad quality.

Over £200m blown, I wonder if Winstanley’s PL recruitment has been analysed by his superiors?

When they closed us down we carried on playing about at the back - there must be a plan B

It’s crap isn’t it? Doesn’t take a genius to work out you need to change it. Can’t keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

Blaming Webster etc isn’t the real reason we are so poor, we shipped out two strikers and gave Potter Maupay one Academy kid and a past it 38 yr old. On top against most sides for large periods can’t score. Potters tactics work mostly we just don’t have any quality to put the ball in the net.

His name is Ings and he knows where the back of the net is. Ours sits on the bench getting rustier and rustier while we expect a 19yo to pull up trees.

There is no future in playing Murray, if it comes down to the last 8 matches maybe they should play him longer and change the formation if we really need too.

Keeper played well but that is well overstating his performance

Did you watch the game? The majority of saves were Hollywood, Maty Ryan actually made the best save of the match.
