El Abds abuse was very much directed up into the stands.Silent Bob said:Abusing the fans ain't clever but I don't have much sympathy with the vultures who gave on the running track to give abuse, he was just giving back what he was getting.
sir danny cullip said:El abd has vented his frustration in the wrong way today but I think it shows he was wound up and determined to win the game rather than a lot of other players on that pitch.
One thing I will say is that from the first whistle today he was literally putting himself on the line for the team (crunching tackle with Bradford player) and giving 110% as he always has done. People say hes a drinker etc but it seems that over the last two years he has sorted himself out.
People who are saying he had a shit game are totally overreacting. He made one very poor attempt at goal which is probably what most people remember, apart from that I recall him being relatively solid in defence despite playing out of position, I still think he looks a hell of a lot more comfortable at centre half.
Compare a wholehearted player like El abd today to one like jakey/coxy who apart from the last 15 minutes seemed to run away from the ball every time it came near them, although his actions were wrong, I certainly know who I would rather have.
Oh, thats okay then. Maybe in the same way we hounded Henderson out because he's not Kuipers, let's all try and get rid of Wilkins because he's not Micky Adams............Yorkie said:Maybe it's me but I thought the boos were directed more towards Wilkins than the players.
The boo's wern't directed at anyone in particular, it was just the usual grumble at another crap performance and another defeat, nothing more than that really.Yorkie said:Maybe it's me but I thought the boos were directed more towards Wilkins than the players.

Kept a clean sheet on his debut for PNE today. Also is a current international goalkeeper, so can't be that gash.......Les Biehn said:Hendo was a bit gash though.

What a load of bollocks.
Curious Orange said:Well, we wouldn't be fighting with each other if we won some home games... actually, I take that back some Brighton fans are miserable f*cks and would (and did) moan if we were winning the division!!
Calm down everyone, its unlikely that we'll get relegated, and we should have some good news about the stadium before long.
Mustela Furo said:No, that's not what I am saying. no-one can deny that the performance - well the last hour anyway - was disappointing.
However, what kind of boost does it give to a young player's confidence to be met with abuse like that when they are trying to prepare for a game?
Could it perhaps lead to players who then get a little nervous on the ball, worried about making mistakes because of what the reaction might be, therefore unable to play freely and make the full use of their abilities?
Could it also perhaps explain why a side full of young professionals might play so much better away from home (top 6 in the league - play-off form), because they can play unfettered by all this home baggage?
Seasoned pro's like my old mate Tank here, have heard it all before, can shut it out, ignore it and not let it affect their game.
Younger players, in their first season of professional football, have not yet built that immunity barrier.
This will come in time of course. As soon as next season probably, once the 10 or 20 game experiences mature into 50 or 60 games. These players have genuine talent that is not being allowed to blossom at home under this unforgiving atmosphere.
That is why I said that I think you will find that, more than anything else, what happened prior to the game was the biggest catalyst for what might have happened after the game.
Had the booing been contained to after the final whistle then I don't think we would be seeing a 200-post thread on this tonight
Curious Orange said:If what you say about people in the crowd laying into the team before the game is true, then that is disgraceful.
For what its worth I thought the first half hour we showed a glimpse of the future in some of our inventive attacking play, and throughout the game I thought that Rents and Cox combined well on the left.
