Do you think that it's right that people should abuse some of the players before KO though?

Absolutely not.
Do two wrongs make a right...? [/B][/QUOTE]

What is the difference. People think they have to right to boo the players because they've had a bad game, yet when one of the players disagrees and tells the fans to get f***ed, in whichever way he chooses, they get all excited and start whining.

If you think you have the right to boo becuase the team have played bad then do it. Yet if someone tells you to get f***ed or gives the wanker sign to people that boo, accept it, don't whinge.

Footballers are not there to be abused, because someone doesn't think they tried had enough. Anyone who plays football hates losing. The higher the standard you play, the harder losing gets to accept, so don't think for one second that they aren't trying. And when you get a bunch of pricks in the stand booing you because you've lost, what do you except?

Most people in that stand, with a few exceptions, have no right to boo a profesional footballer. Unless you've played a descent standard, you the f*** are you to passs judgement. Most of the pricks that boo and shout abuse, are to fat to put a pair of boots on, let lone play the game.

If you think because you pay to watch you have the right to slag players of, think again. If your that pissed off with the performance, don't f***ing go again. I'm sure you don't be missed by the club.

We're called supporters for a reason. Try and f***ing support them when they're down, not stick the boot in.

I do not think that it is right to abuse the players at any time before during or after the game as nobody sets out to havea bad game but it does happen.

I feel that the players look to the manager for guidance and support and do not appear to be getting much guidance.

A 7 year old friend of my grandsons picked out our faults today. Why didnt Wilkins and White instead of going on the radio as if everything in the garden is rosy.
well i can see where our next manager is coming from easy
aint it

I think you'll find that this was the crux of the situation - what happened BEFORE the match even began.

Personally I simply cannot comprehend how people can decide to come to a match and then, as they walk in, before a ball has even been kicked, start aggressively laying into young players with verbal obscentities as they warm up.

I have no qualms with supporters expressing disappointment at the end of a game, but before the game has even kicked off ? ? ?

Oh, that explains it then... that must be the reason we were so poor. :dunce:

It wasn't because we simply don't have enough players with anything like the skill or quality we would need to mount a promotion challenge in this 3rd division.

As a result there is really nothing to play for. It's not surprising people are losing interest and finding things to moan about.

The total lack of ambition is a real turn-off.

Still, we have renewed our two season tickets, because... well I'm not sure really... probably out of some deep-seated sense of loyalty and the vague hope that things will get better.

Can I ask every one of you on here, who booed the players today or earlier in the season one simple question. Well two actually.

When a young team of players have been beaten and feeling down, what benifit do you think they get out their fans booing them?

Do you think you actually benifit the club by booing and hurling abuse at the players?

In my opinion, any twat who pays money to sit and watch a side, and then boos and abuses them because they lose a few times of the spin, isn't fit to wear the shirt in the crowd or call themseleves a 'supporter'.

The same pricks will be calling us the best young team we've ever had if we win a couple on the spin. It's about time you all grew up.

I've been a Albion fan since birth. I would label us the best supporters in the country after what we went through 10 years ago. We saved the club. Period. Without the mass demos, pitch invasions and publicity gained during the 90s, this club would be history.

But the crowd at the moment and threads like this, make me feel shit about being a Brighton supporter. What happened to Henderson was a f***ing disgrace and if the same happens to El-Abd we will be a laughing stock. TRY AND SUPPORT THE f***ing TEAM, AND STOP SLAGGING THEM OFF ALL THE TIME. You might even find it's more enjoyable..............

No, that's not what I am saying. no-one can deny that the performance - well the last hour anyway - was disappointing.

However, what kind of boost does it give to a young player's confidence to be met with abuse like that when they are trying to prepare for a game?

Could it perhaps lead to players who then get a little nervous on the ball, worried about making mistakes because of what the reaction might be, therefore unable to play freely and make the full use of their abilities?

Could it also perhaps explain why a side full of young professionals might play so much better away from home (top 6 in the league - play-off form), because they can play unfettered by all this home baggage?

Seasoned pro's like my old mate Tank here, have heard it all before, can shut it out, ignore it and not let it affect their game.

Younger players, in their first season of professional football, have not yet built that immunity barrier.

This will come in time of course. As soon as next season probably, once the 10 or 20 game experiences mature into 50 or 60 games. These players have genuine talent that is not being allowed to blossom at home under this unforgiving atmosphere.

That is why I said that I think you will find that, more than anything else, what happened prior to the game was the biggest catalyst for what might have happened after the game.

Had the booing been contained to after the final whistle then I don't think we would be seeing a 200-post thread on this tonight

Lets keep this in perspective. It was a disgruntled chorus of boo's at the final whistle after another home defeat. It wasn't a prolongued haranguing f the players. There was none of this "You're not fit to wear the shirt" stuff we saw the Man City fans chanting the other week. It was just the stock-same reaction pretty much every home team in the country gets from its fans after a grim home defeat, nothing more than that. And considering the performances we've had to put up with at Withdean this season, I think that by and large the crowd have been remarkably tolerant. Yes there are always a couple of individuals who take things too far, and anyone who was abusing the players as they were warming up (young players or otherwise), is a DICKHEAD of the highest order.

But home crowds DO boo teams after a crap performance, and then they turn round and wander out the ground muttering. Its a natural reaction, and it happens at every ground in the country, so don't start making out the Albion fans to be any different or any worse just because we don't greet the final whistle of a 0-1 defeat to Bradford with a chorus of warm applause and a rousing rendition of "GOSBTS".

He gets worse than that at home so he's got the 'ignore it' part down to a tee! Anyone on here who has a dig about him fat and useless makes him laugh cos I've been telling him that for the past 14 years!
