Whatever you think about him going to Palace, he was outstanding in his last season for us. His performance against Charlton was right up there with best I've seen from an Albion player. The shame is that he really gelled with the team but chose the filthy lucre to go to an average Palace side where he didn't perform. Another season in the team we had last season and he may have been able command a better contract from us anyway.

The one decent relatively niggle-free season he gave us was when his contract was running down and he knew he was off on a Bosman at the end of it.

Quelle surprise.

How do you feel about Crofts coming back after leaving for more money?

He went to Norwich, a team pushing on for the prem, which they got.

Not a fierce rival who were in no better position than us.

Crofts moved to further his career. Murray moved for money.

I assume you'd never consider changing job for a GOB LOAD OF MONEY.

Semantics. They both moved for money.

Edit to add Norwich had just got promoted and went up again immediately so they had no idea they were going to push for the prem.
If Norwich had wanted him but at 1K a week less than he was getting here do you think Crofts would have gone just for Championship football?

Or you COULD look at it as him playing well for us because he wanted US to offer him a better contract. And because he was fit for the first time in years.

A. He hasn't changed job.

B. pro footballer, different type of career to any other.

And no, I wouldn't if I was a footballer, if the offer was to a rival of the club which gave me a chance to further my career. Disrespectful an proves he didn't care about our club and what we done for him.m

It's a simple process for me:

Would he improve the squad? If so then I'd take him back.

He is a very talent forward who knows how we play. He'll be playing within a better team who'll create a lot of chances for him.

He is good in the air and with his back to goal - and that's what we need.

If he helps us get into the Premiership I don't care if he joined Palace while out of contract because they offered silly £££.

He has changed employer.

One offered him £300k+£312k a year, one offered him about £"small amount"+£210k a year.

If I was offered a 40-50% pay increase by anyone, I'd probably go for it.

Why does our rivalry, dating back decades, matter to someone from outside the area? If it was El-Abd, or Elphick, you'd have a point. But we're talking about a lad from Carlisle

If there was a choice between Murray or Heskey , who would you choose ?

I was dead against heskey when it was first mentioned but.......

Part of me now wonders whether his size, prem experience and obvious natural talent actually might prosper in the championship. After all he has the ability. Just seem to lose killer instinct you need in the prem. dropping down to championship level my spider sense's are tingling, that maybe he could do a job.

Anyways, probably totally wrong and just about to be told as much.

Very naive, they both moved for money

I bloody hope not.

He contributed to my worst experience at the Amex.

He is yes a good player, but he doesn't care or show any passion for the shirt he is wearing.

I do not want him to be strolling around the Amex ever again like he has done nothing wrong.

Is he better than Barnes? Probably not over the course of a season, so he's not worth even considering.

Stay at palace and keep quiet Murray!

Shame on you if u want him bk in the blue and white!

I feel no shame at all and the more I read ridiculous comments such as yours, the more I want him back

I wouldn't take him back simply because I don't think he's good enough. Not due to disliking him!! I remember that after the Palace game a lot of posts on here said they found it hard to dislike him due to the way he conducted himself during that game. He was very professional.

He upped his game at the Amex last season because it was against us. Players always do that against their old clubs. But didn't impress for the rest of the season

Totally different, Gus let crofty go to further his career knowing he was quality, and giving him the opportunity to prove he could play at a higher level, he let Murrey go because he thought he was bigger than the club and thought he could strut around giving it large, demanding this and that, and he can't even hold a reg place in a second rate team. Well shot of rubbish.
I don't see Gus eating that big a slice of Humble pie.

Earlier in the thread: don't, who ever u are, try and compare Vicente to Murray. Vicente is GOD!

You should re read the post ... its not about comparing Murray with Vicente . Its about love of a club (or lack of) and fans .Just because you think that Vicente is god.. doesnt mean that he thinks any more or less of us fans and the club than GM...or any other player who wasnt born in Brighton ! If Vicente, at the end of his contract next year decides to go to someone else for more money ..would he be GOD then ? Presume you'll change your view of him. Players (a lot of them ) are going to look for the best deal that will suit them and their family ......they dont give a f*** about you and me .
Footballers are some of the most selfish, lightweight ,self centred, self important sportsman around (apart from golfers). I was at the Virgin Health Club on Monday and KLL and Harley were there swimming . Loads of excited kids , down there in their Albion shirts , seeing them ......totally ignored. As much as i love Albion and everything thats going on at the club... ive been around these people for too long now to accept its all about their love for the fans and club .
Wayne Bridge hasnt come here because of us and his love for BHAFC.... he's come here to play footy and be near his gf . If we are not in the Premiership next year, i can garantee that Vicente wont be here . What will you think of him then....jumping ship ? Will he still be god ?
