Very strange window so far with only today left. Barco not coming back, Enciso, Moder and possibly Ferguson/McConville out on loan. Cashin seems a good deal and £20m on a striker we won't see till next year coming in. Definitely has the feel of smaller/weaker squad given the impossibly long injury list when we still have a possible european place to go for if we can get it together.
I think it's been a fairly typical window, but one that feels more pressured by results being a bit squiffy and people thinking that the squad needs more investment. The fact is that this window is seeing a higher demand from some sections of fans, further disconnected from the club's repeatedly stated policy of not doing much, if any, business in January.

Barco is an odd one, sure, but Enciso is demanding first team football without earning it with his performances, Moder had 6 months left on his deal, Ferguson needs game time and may not get it here and McConville is in the same boat.

Add to that, the window is still open and we're likely to spend £30m this window on Cashin and Tzimas.

None of this is directed at you specifically, @nevergoagain , just a wider point

Hopefully there won't be an exodus of players in the summer with all the reported interest
It's a possibility. Some of our recent signings may be snapped up by otherPrem League clubs so that they can be injured elsewhere?

Unfortunately we'd be unlikely at present to recoup what we paid.

Can't see many other PL clubs clambering over each other to buy them either.

All fine mate, no worries.

I see Academy have also just announced Baker-Boaitey has gone to Millwall on a perm, hadn't seen that on here but not looked too far :).apart from the 5 posts above this now.

I'd be disappointed if we don't sign another defender today.

It's been clear we have been short in defence since the summer when we missed out on Hummels & Boscagli. We've lost Igor and Ferdi to long term injuries, looks like McConnville is heading out and (so far) only replaced with Cashin, presumably Igor's replacement.

I think it's quite obvious what happened with Barco. He got here and he didn't fancy England and we'v moved him on.

Yep, exactly this. He looked semi-decent in dead ball situations, completely positionally unbalanced, and as such a complete liability defensively.

Both club and player couldn’t wait to be parted from each other. To paraphrase, “this is not the left-back you’re looking for.”
