On a permanent. I guess he refused a contract extension then.McConville off to Norwich for about £1m, good luck to the lad https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/city-complete-signing-of-ruairi-mcconville
That or we plan on signing yet another CB in the summer which along with Cashin's arrival doesn't bode well for his chances of properly breaking into the first team. Anyway, I'm sure there's a sell on clause in there in case he does do really well with the CanariesOn a permanent. I guess he refused a contract extension then.
Shame, he had something about him.
Another promising youngster gone. Only 19 - surely there was time to send him on loan before moving him on. Does well in the U21s, makes it to the bench for the first team - then off. Oh well, at least we bought a job lot of promising youngsters in the summer.McConville off to Norwich for about £1m, good luck to the lad https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/city-complete-signing-of-ruairi-mcconville
One where I would have liked us to include a buy back clause, which we never seem to do.Another promising youngster gone. Only 19 - surely there was time to send him on loan before moving him on. Loan him out for 6 months until his contract expires and he leaves on a free? Seems a bit pointless to waste everyone's time like that.Another promising youngster gone. Could you not terminate a loan, regardless of clauses in it, if both teams agree to do so?The same live blog has a story claiming we could terminate Facu's Leicester loan and arrange a new loan for him at the last minute but that's not consistent with reports that his break clause was conditional on him failing to make a set number of appearances which he has.
Yes, especially as Leicester would need him gone to bring someone else in.Could you not terminate a loan, regardless of clauses in it, if both teams agree to do so?

When you do that, you extend/renew the contract. He does well, his value increases. Simples.Loan him out for 6 months until his contract expires and he leaves on a free? Seems a bit pointless to waste everyone's time like that.
How do you get him to sign if he doesn't want to?When you do that, you extend/renew the contract. He does well, his value increases. Simples.
See earlier discussion in this thread. It appears that this was the case. Still not good news. How do you get him to sign if he doesn't want to?
I agree on point 1. And at a glance point 2 could seem odd. But reports are that with add ons we’ll get £2.75m for McConville & he was out of contract in the summer. Who knows what conversations were had there. He could have turned down a new contract & seen an opportunity for first team football at Norwich. & therefor we have little choice but to take the cash.I am struggling to understand some of these decisions this transfer window:-
1) send one young forward out on loan, sign another but also then immediately send him back out on loan. Result, 1 forward less to choose from.
2) Sign one defender but sell 1 for only £1m with another (Lamptey) possibly going as well, in a part of the team where we are desperately short.
I just don't get it!
