The NHS Nursing Support Fund gives an additional £3,000 per year to eligible students, including:

Specialist disciplines such as mental health nursing which struggle to recruit
Those needing additional childcare support, on top of the £1,000 already available
In areas of the country that have seen a decrease in student applications
Depending on your situation, you could receive up to £8,000 per year in support – which you won’t have to pay back. The money can help towards any living expenses needed throughout the year.

Will nursing students still have access to other financial support?

Students will still have to pay tuition fees of £9,250 per year, though they will still have access to tuition and maintenance loans from Student Finance.

So I guess like any student there’s help out there [emoji106]

Marina Hyde's on absolute fire with this IMHO

How many nurses' salaries does it take to redecorate Downing Street?

It’s the standard unit of measurement for top football signings – and can be usefully applied to political expenditure too

https://www.theguardian.com/comment...-salaries-redecorate-downing-street-political

Awful claptrap. What's football got to do with it?

Then the expenses scandal, during Labour's reign when Harriot Harmen Labour and Leader of the House tabled a motion along with a "three line whip" to exempt MP expenses from being exposed by freedom of information requests. Double the amount of Labour MP's resigned due to the scandal than Tories yet the duck house is always brought up. All sides were taking the piss even Sinn Fein who claimed £500000 for 2nd home allowance even though they never attended parliament.

It's just a rant with little substance. Wouldn't want her in the trenches with me.

Just a standard daily government disaster, of course its indefensible but they will attempt to defend it, grudgingly change their minds and go up another 2% in the polls.

The nurses have done a superb job.

But if the gentleman opposite and his trade union pals were running the country, or should I say ruining it, we'd be following the EU plan of failure. Britain has world beating vaccinations and the fastest growing economy and none of this would have been possible without great sacrifice.

It's time he stop talking this great country down.

Frankly anybody that doesn't value our NHS above all else outside of immediate family and friends and next door neighbour and THEIR next door neighbour just doesn't deserve the NHS :tosser:

a) £22 billion for a track & trace system that doesn't work, straight into the pockets of a consultancy run by chums of the people in government.

That's £22,000,000,000

b) Nurses after a year of being at the Covid coal-face: 1% and a patronising clap. "Well we're not made of money"

And yet this government still leads easily in the polls. I am genuinely not sure how bad this government needs to get before people wake up to what is going on.

They won’t wake up...... They know what they vote for.

Gods country fortnightly
When you consider the multiple crony contracts over the past 12 months this is beyond an insult.

What are the Tories doing, surely they put this out to a focus group in Dudley and Stoke first?

.

Still have to fund it though. I’m not sure they’ll be many takers after today’s announcement. Going slightly in a different direction.
I’ve seen first hand what effect it has on someone working in the NHS, and to be fair it’s not about the money for her.

All students fund their degree, this one appears to have a job guarantee?

As you say, nurses do it for the love, and then the money.

I know 4 nurses, they all have money to burn and they are also all on very good pensions.

Not many people have those benefits at the moment.

Unions are just stirring it again, no surprise there.

Labour are using aggressive fighting words to spread more hate, with the its 'like being kicked in the face' as spewed out of the ineffective Ashworth.

I suppose they are getting desperate about their poll ratings.

When are you going to do everybody a favour and disappear you absolute chuffing idiot.
My sister is a nurse and you could not be more wrong, i believe you are lying and you do not know any nurses personally.
You are a very sick and stupid little man, but getting the attention you so crave, are you really that lonely.
I suppose you also think all that levelling out money going to the Sunack constituency of Richmond is ok or refusing to feed school kids until a footballer says they should or paying someone off because a minister bullied him and broke the code, or breaking international law or killing thousands due to dithering or giving millions to pals in contracts who had no experience and still failed to deliver or giving a contract to a ferry company that didn't have any ferries or saying to nurses there is no money tree (again) and then finding millions for The DUP a week later or sending kids to school for a day or thinking a virus takes time off at Christmas etc etc etc.
Probably all Corbyns fault though.
You are a weapons grade moron.

Yes.

..... and of course many of those nurses will be one half of a two wage-earning household, so the point about per household is irrelevant really.

Not really though is it, I was curious to see if you thought 34k was adequate for a single wage household. There many single wage households, mine included and I feel 34k is relatively low especially if you have a household with more than one child and even more so for the job in question.

Said every Tory always.

They've not even mentioned timing.

But as you've mentioned timing, IMHO the perfect timing would be the week after every eligible citizen has been offered their first dose of vaccine and has realised what an absolutely magnificent job the NHS has done throughout this crisis.

Spectacular own goal by the Tories right there. The U-Turn will be equally spectacular

Do you think they would have more support now or in 2/3 months time when we are hopefully out of this and people are back to work?

So you would tell them to strike before everyone is fully vaccinated?

How do you think that would go down?

In our little enclave of five houses and a stable converted to a flat, we have an A&E consultant, a GP, an ICU Registrar, and a Paramedic*. From that sample size of four, not one is doing it for the money - particularly over the last year. This doesn't mean we shouldn't pay them appropriately, of course.

*It does mean we're reasonably well catered for in terms of medical help from the neighbours though. Builders/plumbers/sparks/chippies - less so. If the neighbours want a SME Director to lend them a hand with their circumstances I stand ready and waiting. Oddly, there's been little take-up so far. They do like the wine I provide though.

Reckon they've EARNED way more support than the lifetime of this criminally-negligent government that has needlessly condemned to death massive numbers of our society's most vulnerable people earlydoors

Absolutely despicable and a complete kick in the teeth.

Bullshit there's no money. How about the MP's take a pay cut? I would have happily taken a smaller furlough if it meant they could have a decent pay rise.

What pisses me off more is there's absolutely no decent opposition.

You're missing the point. The wage you get paid is for the job you do. It is not dependent on the number of children you have, or the number of people you are supporting in your household.
If you're lucky enough to earn more than £34K, fine. A lot of people don't; they might deserve it, but ............................

Sure, doesn’t work like that though does it, even less with this bunch of clowns on charge.

It would be a massive own goal to do it now
