We didn't need to spend a fortune on transfer fees because we've spent £150m+ in the last few years. We've managed to sign a couple of extremely promising players on free transfers, added to our depth in midfield and up front, and most importantly we've kept Zaha. A blinding success, I reckon.
No, it wouldn't. I suspect that even without Zaha, the bookies would fancy Brighton as more likely to go down than Palace.
Anyway I thought Wilf was going to Spurs? Seems the papers can't make up their minds. Maybe he'll stay.
That includes last season's unbelievable barren run and a season at Liverpool where he was regularly benched.
He has scored 19 goals in a season for Villa, 15 for us. Benteke has been an excellent goalscorer in the past and it's quite possible that he could be again.
He got 15 in his first season for us. If he suddenly remembers how to kick a football then he could beat that figure. Something went badly wrong for him last season but that doesn't change the fact that over his career he has been a very good goalscorer in the Premier League.
Anyone commenting on Meyer's attitude could develop an understanding of how the Schalke media machine works: http://sportwitness.co.uk/max-meyer-crystal-palace-backed-germany-transfer-mocked/
Rodwell isn't fit to lace this guy's boots.
He's a defensive midfielder, mate. Goals are always a bonus but he was playing in a Pirlo-like role last season, and had some excellent performances.
Completely fictional and only the Mail (:ffsparr:) are reporting it. Everyone else is saying 80k/w.
Surely you've worked out that we'll be in the Premier League forever and ever? It doesn't matter how badly it looks like we're doing, we'll always turn it around
Because the transfer window isn't closed yet? We've rejected £45m from Spurs and £30m + Drinkwater from Chelsea. They're obviously working up to a bid of that size, I only hope we don't accept it.
Last season, sure. The season before that he was exceptional. Overall I think he has worked out...
Benteke's first season was superb, his second season... less so. 3 goals and 5 assists is dissapointing for a player of his quality and we'll expect better in future. Overall though I think it's very unfair to argue that he has been a poor signing.
A petition started by the sort of nonce that...
Those five seasons have been utterly mental, and great fun too. Benteke was signed for an initial £27m (not £35m) and scored 15 PL goals in his first season; nobody was complaining about the fee then!
Luka Milivojevic was certainly the name on everyone's lips when we signed him. The groundwork on that deal was done over a period of longer than six months. Doesn't seem like a scattergun signing to me.
We signed Guiata on a Bosman via pre-contract agreement in January. Since then we've...
