If they keep Wilf some see there self's as finishing no lower than 8th with their new signings. Even talk of breaking into the top six now..

"It's plausible we could crash the top 6 if we can get lucky with injuries. IF Benteke can find as his best form and get us 20 goals, Wilf takes his game to another level and chips in with 20 and Meyer is a young Iniesta then our 6 is strong enough to see us give any team a game."

Wow.

He got 15 in his first season for us. If he suddenly remembers how to kick a football then he could beat that figure. Something went badly wrong for him last season but that doesn't change the fact that over his career he has been a very good goalscorer in the Premier League.

The thing with Zaha is he's one of those players that is probably worth more to his club than a buyer would be willing to pay - it would be PR suicide for Parish to let him go, regardless of the fee, this close to the deadline. £60/70m is a lot of money for a buyer to spend on an admittedly very talented player, but one who has failed before at a bigger club - its too big a risk. There's better value to be found elsewhere, even spending 30 or 40m, for a decent Premier League winger.

That's the problem with being the star player of a non-top 6 side. To a lesser extent Gross is similar for us - I couldn't see us accepting 30m for him now, he's that integral - but would anyone pay 35m+ for him? He's got great assist stats but he's not the quickest and the top 6 sides already have the likes of Ozil, Silva, Eriksen, Sanchez etc who play as the no10/second striker.

It creates a market within a market, where certain players are valued way higher than they are probably "worth". For that reason I see him staying, and if I were a betting man, I'd lump on him signing a new deal before the month is up. ££££££ for him to 'compensate' a longer stay, PR win for the Nigels' leadership. Win/win from their POV.

69 goals since 2012. 11.5 goals a season.

That includes last season's unbelievable barren run and a season at Liverpool where he was regularly benched.

He has scored 19 goals in a season for Villa, 15 for us. Benteke has been an excellent goalscorer in the past and it's quite possible that he could be again.

He was so good Liverpool put him on the bench and then they sold him to you! You can't pick out good seasons and ignore the rest.
