Palace were also decimated by injuries, in fairness. Cheick Doucoure, our best midfielder, missed nearly 200 days with a snapped Achilles. Guehi, Olise & Eze all had months out. Your manager might have checked out from March, but as much as I admire and respect Roy, I'm not sure he had ever...
Football is a game of opinions - but your opinion is a bad one. :lolol:
It's true that Andersen lacks explosive pace, but he's hardly slow either. He positions himself well, and he's strong in the air. His range of passing is outstanding (with both feet) and he's key to how Palace build out...
I don't think anyone in South London would be particularly upset if we sold Jeffrey Schlupp :lolol:
He's not an awful player and has been a good servant to the club over a number of years, but he was pretty abysmal in Roy's second spell.
Yes and no. He certainly managed to further raise the level of the already excellent Eze & Olise, but his best work was done with the likes of Mateta, Mitchell, Clyne etc. who were totally reinvigorated under Glasner.
Any Palace fan would have personally driven Mateta back to a Bundesliga...
This certainly concerns me - as does the prospect of Kompany failing to hit the ground running at Bayern. They've wanted Glasner before and I'm sure they will again...
I can't see it happening. I'm sure he wants out of Turkey - he has won a league title but doesn't seem to be enjoying his football there - but I'm not convinced it works for either party. I would hate to see him playing for another Premier League team, but I think it would be a backwards step...
His ability on the ball is excellent. He can pass short and long (with both feet!) and he can carry the ball out of defence. He's also blisteringly quick and very rarely beaten on the ground.
The only real weakness I've noticed over the years is that he's not particularly strong in the air, and...
I don't think anyone really knows. When we signed Guehi it was reported that Chelsea have "matching rights" but no sell-on clause. I suppose we'll find out!
Where has that figure come from? The only figures I've seen are Fabrizio Romano saying £65m & the Telegraph saying "well in excess of £60m"
£65m is probably a fair fee. We get a large amount of money for a player running down his contract, and Newcastle get England's best central defender.
These were the two that I have always assumed were most likely to leave.
Olise was simply too good to not be playing in the Champions League, and the clause was an obvious bargain for anyone who could activate it.
Guehi was always likely to be sold if he refused to sign a new contract, but we...
According to The Athletic & Alan Nixon, Glasner wasn't convinced.
"Palace head coach Oliver Glasner turned down the opportunity to sign Sessegnon, who could have provided competition to Tyrick Mitchell at left-back."
Do top half clubs often sell three of their best players in the same window for the best part of £200m without replacing them?
Wishful thinking on your part, I think. :lolol:
Eze's release clause is £68m with the majority of that due up front. I'd be surprised if he was going anywhere. Olise's fee was an absolute bargain - I think Eze's is about market value.
It’s certainly possible but I still think it’s unlikely. £68m on Eze is an awful lot of money for a player that doesn’t always turn up in big matches, and the club will drive a harder bargain for Guehi after this week’s developments & his England performances.
I think our replacement will be...
Given that Dougie signed a new contract only a few weeks ago and turned down a lucrative offer from Newcastle, I’d imagine he’ll have been given reassurances in that department.
I don’t think Palace fans are as gutted as you seem to think we are. I’d have been upset if he’d joined a slimy club like Chelsea - but Bayern is a fantastic move for him & we won’t have to watch him tear us apart next season!
As far as I’m concerned, Olise could easily have gotten his move...
I don’t think it has, really. Olise was an obvious departure if a top club came in for him, because at £65m he represents incredible value and will very quickly be an elite player at Bayern.
Eze will cost a similar fee but isn’t quite as talented, and isn’t an obvious a bargain. I wouldn’t be...
