I wouldn't say it was a fact that it was the last decent England team. Remember we went out on penalties twice under Sven too. I think he did a good job considering the situation. I wasn't saying the Hoddle team was poor. Just that Sven's team were decent too.

Absolutely but I think we'll have an idea from who it is whether that is likely to be true or not. We're hardly likely to introduce them by saying "this is xxx, our new manager. They weren't even close to our preferred candidate but nobody else would take it"

I think we all want news but the most important thing is the club gets the appointment right. Hopefully the fact that they're taking their time means that we will get the absolute right choice for manager. If that's the case, a few more days or even a week won't be the end of the world.

I find it amusing that certain people assume we haven't got our first choice. I'm not saying we have but there's been no suggestion that anyone has been offered the job. As someone else said on this thread, these things take time and we could well be discussing terms with out favoured candidate...

Exactly my view. I had thought it would taint his reputation here if he came back. But recently he's looked pretty good for QPR. I'm in the yes camp now. Would love him back.

Completely agree. We also bought 8 new players in during Poyet's last summer in charge and 2 more in January. Did okay that season
