Would be an interesting appointment. I always thought Bloom might pull off a surprise move.
Could be a really exciting option. Yes, he's a risk but so are all these British managers that certain people talk about. Every manager is a risk. He played over here for much of his career so I have...
I wouldn't say it was a fact that it was the last decent England team. Remember we went out on penalties twice under Sven too. I think he did a good job considering the situation. I wasn't saying the Hoddle team was poor. Just that Sven's team were decent too.
Brilliant. So to understand the point. You make a statement that has no basis in fact. I counter with an actual fact and you tell me it's subjective. I'm not arguing that we didn't do well that game just that you were making a sweeping statement and making it sound like fact.
Ignoring the fact we got to three straight quarter finals under Sven (better than Hoddle did). But then Sven is foreign so you probably don't rate him!
Absolutely but I think we'll have an idea from who it is whether that is likely to be true or not. We're hardly likely to introduce them by saying "this is xxx, our new manager. They weren't even close to our preferred candidate but nobody else would take it"
I agree. However, I'd far rather we do this than be like some other clubs who play it all out in public. It's much better for the club to keep it behind close doors. I don't understand the negative attitude of some on here (especially the OP who was trying to find the cause of a problem we don't...
I think we all want news but the most important thing is the club gets the appointment right. Hopefully the fact that they're taking their time means that we will get the absolute right choice for manager. If that's the case, a few more days or even a week won't be the end of the world.
I find it amusing that certain people assume we haven't got our first choice. I'm not saying we have but there's been no suggestion that anyone has been offered the job.
As someone else said on this thread, these things take time and we could well be discussing terms with out favoured candidate...
I'm not a fan of Sherwood and, based on his time at Tottenham, don't really want him. However, I agree with your point about what happened at Spurs. He was never backed by Levy and the board and was always seen as a short term choice.
If he came here and was given the support and time to build...
I hope so. He's not been talked about for any of the other jobs so hopefully he'd be interested. Can't see any reason why we wouldn't want him. To me, he's the best candidate on the list.
From our point of view, the club did say won't be offered a contract at this time. This presumably left the door open for any of the released players to be offered new deals if the new manager wanted it to happen.
However, Kuszczak has made it clear he wants Premier League football so I doubt...
This seems to be the only accurate thread on here. Nobody really knows who's in the running (especially given that Clement seems to have ruled himself out). We don't even know if Clement was a viable option.
You'd assume that Sherwood and Hughton are probably on the shortlist but who knows...
Do they? Dyche and Mackay were both in only their second managerial role when promoted. Redknapp spent a fortune and still only just got QPR up. Pearson took three or four years to succeed, Holloway almost cocked up Palace and only came good in the play offs.
Alternatively, Wigan had an...
You do realise OG got us to the play offs last season? Seems from your post that you think we finished bottom half.
Also, we don't know our budget. We should still have the Bridcutt money plus the players who are leaving will have been on high wages. I think we should have a fair amount to invest.
Exactly my view. I had thought it would taint his reputation here if he came back. But recently he's looked pretty good for QPR. I'm in the yes camp now. Would love him back.
