Surely scrutiny should be applied by someone that actually matters, rather than a publicity chasing also ran who has about as much relevance or sway in current affairs as a cabbage.

As others have said, basic first aid really should be taught in schools. Even if the skills learnt are never used (and you'd have to hope that'd be the case) it can only be a good thing.
