Is David Cameron too busy to meet with Nigel Farage MEP or is he lacking courage? Surely, in the interests of the electorate Cameron's begging must be scrutinised.

Why on earth does he need to waste his time doing that?

Because as we are all aware the renegotiations need to be ratified by the EU parliament and Nigel Farage is leader of the EFD group in Brussels. So the PM needs to get backing from all the groups in the EU group for it to go through.

The EFDD has 45 members - just over 5% of the European parliament. Think CMD can give that one a swerve

Why would he meet with a political irrelevance who had five minutes of lime light a year or so ago?!

Read above quote, Cameron needs it to go through the EU parliament for it to be legally binding and since the EFDD group will be voting on the issue he needs their vote.

Surely scrutiny should be applied by someone that actually matters, rather than a publicity chasing also ran who has about as much relevance or sway in current affairs as a cabbage.

Would there be much point in meeting a person who is part of the "Out" campaign? Farage is not going to agree to any deal that keeps the UK in the EU so it would be a pointless as a chocolate teapot.

27.5% of the vote in the last EU elections?

But as someone else pointed out, they are only 5% of MEPs. There are much bigger representative groups to suck up to.

Surely Farage will vote against any reforms anyway whatever they are as that would mean Cameron failed and it will suit his agenda in the referendum.

Exactly. I'm an "outer" but I have to agree such a meeting would be a complete waste of time. Farage will campaign for OUT and Cameron for IN regardless of the "deal" Cameron comes back with.

"Sway" ?. I believe this EU referendum has been brought to the fore because of Farage and UKIP, and around 40+% of voters want out of the EU.
UKIP were sneered at by many, including you by the looks of it but, with more votes than the SNP, Plaid, Liberals put together.
The UK Independence Party (UKIP), came third in terms of votes with 12.6%.
Like many Cameron ignores Farage....why is that.

Would Farage bother to turn up if a meeting was arranged? We all know his attendance record on the EU Fisheries Committee...

Because a) the group will certainly vote against the deal anyway (as has been pointed out above)
and b) Even if it could be swayed, it's 5% of the parliament so doesn't represent a major group (as has also been pointed out above).

I imagine that Cameron has got any absolute packed schedule over the next couple of days with little name to waste on irrelevant and unhelpful meetings

Well i reckon Cameron will get precious little out of talks and propositions today with EU countries. He will try and talk them up when he gets back and hope that the voters are hoodwinked. The proof will be on what side of the fence his own party members like Boris fall.

Mr. Cameron was scheduled to meet with European Parliament group leaders – Mr. Farage included – tomorrow in Brussels.
The incident will bring to mind Mr. Cameron’s reluctance to debate Mr. Farage ahead of the British General Election last year, instead opting to dilute the party leaders’ debate by adding Scottish Nationalist Nicola Sturgeon, and Welsh representative Leanne Wood.
Number 10 Downing Street announced this morning that Mr. Cameron was changing said meetings, instead opting to meet with cherry-picked individuals, including those from the Socialist group in the European Parliament.

Journalists have noted how the appointment was already down in the agenda of the European Parliament. The cancellation has caused a wave of mockery of the Prime Minister online.
