The key to travelling in snow is preparation, and a willingness to eat human flesh. Professor Henry Brubaker said: “The important thing to remember, if you are forced to pull in, is that the warmest place in the car is under the bonnet. Use spanners to remove your car’s engine then climb...

Been pretty constant in the SE26 / BR3 (SE London / NW Kent) area since 8.45ish, but we’ve not had any flumpage, merely the fine, small stuff. Hopefully, if I’m looking at Papa’s link correctly, we might be due some bigger flakes soon.

Yes, and it actually had something based on technical data. I was being sarky in my post.

I have questions! What is the forecast for slightly further ahead, say, a week today? Is it likely to remain cold or will we have a return to murky, damp, grey days with 8 degrees? How come, even though it was bitterly cold overnight, there seems to be very little frost this morning? The car...

My dad had a colleague who moved to Norway from Brighton. He used to send Christmas cards each year featuring various photos he'd taken of his children playing in the snow, festive scenes etc. I used to be so jealous of those kids playing in the deepest snow I've ever seen. He used to ski to...

It's been very disappointing and, once again, we look like we're going to miss out after some very promising data. I'd rather we'd have had nothing than the little teasing amount yesterday prior to the rain. Mind you, I can remember winter after winter with no snow when I was a kid and teenager...

I'm feeling less confident for the coast and west sussex as the temps appear to rise higher than expected turning the snow to rain. It's still too early to call (from my minimal knowledge), but the milder air in the west does appear to be edging to the east during Monday.
