Excellent. Genuinely chuffed to get such a good review, thanks.
I was playing one of the CDs (well, the iTunes playlists) on the train on my way home and was trying to work out how many of the bands were from the UK and how many from overseas. I shall have a proper look and report back, but...
Incidentally, speaking of C86, this press-release might be of interest...

I normally just cut and paste the link from the browser, but there's an icon thingie too when you post - the one with the globe and an 8 on its side.
I always tick the box 'include CD text' when burning CDs with iTunes, so it *should* work. It seems to for some people, but not everyone.
*looks baffled and shrugs shoulders slightly, but not in an unconcerned manner, more of a 'I don't really understand the technology' stylee*
This might jog your memory a little. I was on my day off so am not in this (mucho relief!), but I know just about everyone in it and it does make me feel a tad nostalgic and misty-eyed.
I was a big Billy Bragg fan and the manager let me watch his set from the temporary till we set up. Billy...
I think I had a promo copy but never even listened to it because I hated the single. I might have to have a listen at some point, but it'll have to go some to beat 'Pop Said' which is rather lovely and pleasantly perky.
The photo was taken by my old boss who went on to manage the Western Road branch of Virgin shortly after this. The two trendy dudes having a fag out front both worked for the company too and were involved with setting up the new store.
Other records in the window include Paul Young's 'Secret of...

You're right, absolutely gorgeous. I'd not heard them before, just heard of them, so thanks.
For anyone hankering for a bit of Sunshine Playroom nostalgia, have a listen to this (I think I might've posted this somewhere else in the thread, but can't remember. It's an age thing)...
Yes indeed. I was more than a tad gutted that due to DJing duties and them playing the church stage (capacity approx 120 max), I missed the entire set. Pam Berry from Black Tambourine (and many other fine bands) sung on some of the songs.
Curses!
I did meet you a few times, yeah. I remember chatting with you and Gordon in Virgin in Western Rd where I worked at the time and being on 'nodding terms' with each other at gigs and down the Playroom.
I was never a big fan of the Mighty Lemon Drops (always seemed a tad dour and lacked that...
Red Sleeping Beauty were a Swedish band who released some cracking stuff in the mid-90's. They were named after the McCarthy song but I don't believe they ever set out to deliberately sound like St Etienne though.
I could do with some more Cat's Miaow as I only have a handful of songs, but...
