Yes. They then lost the next FIVE consecutive matches. These FIVE defeats included losing at ultimately-relegated Portsmouth, at home to both Barnsley and Watford, as well as losing in the cup to a team in the division below.
We need 4 points from the next 4 league games to be in a better...
If I'm reading you right, I agree. The 4 games after we were champions meant nothing as we'd already won it. Similarly though, the 3 games after we were out of the playoff picture are also completely irrelevant. Our form book should only really be about the first 3 games this season.
There seems to be a few people here claiming an awful 10 game run, which would include games at the end of last season which were complete dead rubbers after we had lost the playoff place.
I wonder how those same people saw the 4 games without a win at the end of 2010/11... did they not matter...
Is this football, post-Olympics? The friendliness has rubbed off on all the football fans, and we'll be applauding referees, and opposition (including Palace), on and off the field like we did for that fortnight in London?
In all seriousness though, yes Halsey had a great game last night. He...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this could well have been the actual attendance. 2,000 empty in the S/SE, another 500 empty around the place (all other stands looked very full from where I was in the North Stand).
I think 25,500 out of 28,000 seems perfectly reasonable... unless the...
We need a striker, we know that, and there's a good chance (allegedly...) that we'll get him in the next 9 days.
Reading needed a striker last season, they got him in January and won the league - having lost FOUR consecutive games in August/September, including at Portsmouth and at home to...
If I lost, I would never know I'd lost, as it would be an instant goodbye. If I won, I'd be rich. Finding it very hard to say no... (I have no gf/kids etc to leave behind).
Well, up to £6.30 really. That's the price of a return train from Haywards Heath to Falmer and I'd have to fork out for that extra bit of a train journey if my ticket didn't arrive on time (maybe coming from West or East could be more).
If there's a genuine logistical reason tickets couldn't be...
Yes, I think so. Also this is their first away game of the season so might increase the turnout a little bit if they've been missing it over the summer like us...
We failed to win the last 8 games that Adam El-Abd played last year, too. And the last 6 that Liam Bridcutt played in.
They also both played in some great wins during the season, the same as Vicente tore both Pompey & Derby apart.
And there was me thinking the whole country would start thinking like this after the Olympics...
To be honest - I'm glad they're doing well, chuffed they stuffed Spurs and hope they can continue to do well throughout the season. If they're also attractive then, well, great (and I reckon most...
Yes. I'm not expecting play-offs; 7th wouldn't be a disappointment, but 10th would be.
We've improved in goal, in defence, and in midfield, and the strike-force hasn't gone backwards even if it hasn't gone forwards. How can not improving even one place not be a little bit disappointing?
