The Great Palace 2013 managerial farce. 31 days...THEY FOUND ONE!

Ahem, I should point out that they're not just any dog turds, they're M&S dog turds. Or Waitrose. Think you might be getting mixed up with Penge a mile or two up the road.

Quite surprised to see Boris Johnson in at 35.

Indietracks Festival / all things C86 and indiepop!

I should point out that I'm not invlolved with this night at all, but if I lived in Brighton, I'd be there with bells on (possibly quite literally given the festive theme!)

Brought to you by the people who bring you Another Sunny Day... Saturday 7th December - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/249573 The running order is decided on the night to ensure things get increasingly party as the evening goes on. Another Sunny Day Indiepop Club DJs will keep the party...

Ha - I don't imagine that two old curmudgeons with early-onset arthritis would quite fit the bill. Which is a shame as I'd love to fill their ears with Shop Assistance, Dune Brides and See Urchins.

I might be repeating myself - I'm old and lose track easily - but if you do Facebook, this is a wonderful trip down memory lane: https://www.facebook.com/80sfanzines?hc_location=stream

I can honestly say that you're not missing out. I can't believe that the organisers of the C86 night (boo hiss!) wrote Whether Prophets rather than Weather Prophets. Did one of their dads mention them as a good C86 band and they assumed the wrong spelling... or what? *off to the Advertising...

When you have guests visit your home.....

That's rich coming from someone living in Newhaven! I'm guessing that you've never been to Beckenham? Most of it is so posh that I feel like an impostor.

When you have guests visit your home.....

We have a baby crawling around, so shoes off for everyone. I never used to be too worried, but Mrs Flex has made me feel pretty strongly about it. The streets are filthy and I don't want the remnants of dirt, chewing gum, dogshit, vomit, mud or whatever being trodden around where I relax.

Will somebody please think of the (Railway) Children... They kinda passed me by a bit, but that was pretty good in a rather wannabe-Smiths-y way. Were they always quite so chirpy? I just re-read something I wrote about Dan way back in Christmas 2008; I used to love them soooo much, but he...

Yeah, I remember that album. I even reduced it to 99p in one of the many sales at work but still wasn’t tempted. If I heard it now, there would probably be a couple of keepers on there, but at the time, there was so much of that kinda thing around, it became disposable. I saw Strawberry Story...

Wow! Completely forgotten about The 'janglier in East Anglia' Bardots. That's a great track but probably the only one I've really heard by them before. Wasn't there an Adorable connection somewhere? I need to investigate further. Never really got in to the Blue Aeroplanes (but I though Rodney...

I'm not a betting man (normally) so...

Nope, because someone who knows the band or has 'inside information' could take advantage. In fact, a band could fund the recording costs of their new recordings with a few well placed bets via friends and associates. I just hope it isn't the Pistols as they should have disappeared in January...

[Misc] The Award-winning official "More Snow Tomorrow?" Thread [2024-25 Season]

Funnily enough I was thinking about bumping this thread earlier today as a colleague mentioned that the temperatures in the second half of November are looking to be a fair bit lower than ususal. Anything to back this up, or has he just been quoting from the Express again?

O/T Can NSC recommend some good quality laptop speakers?

I treated myself to some of these beauties - Harman Kardon Soundsticks II Great sound for around £100, but don't make the mistake I did and ask the man at Richer Sounds for a set of Karman Hardon Soundsticks. Oh how we laughed  Edit: sorry, just read the OP again; these probably...
