Named and Shamed, worst customer service in the city

Very true yesterday. The place has been gutted! Soon to revert to the Spotted Dog.

Mattock to sign and another player in talks

Same old discussion every close season. Of course Gus wants player ready for pre-season but players, and their agents, are fishing for the best deals, often starting rumours of club's interest. Many players don't concentrate their minds and refine their demands until they are out of contract...

Quiet Pub in Brighton (near station) showing Eng v Fra?!

Sort of in the same boat in that will finish work about 5.15. Was thinking of K&Q as that's always been lucky for me in the past but there's a fair chance it'll be full by 5.00 so I may well go to the Welly, which is not far from the station and often puts a big screen in the back room and...

    Pub merry-go-round in Brighton

So what of the new owners of The Florist/Princess Victoria which, I believe, opens next Friday? Very convenient (but underused pub) for me at lunchtimes. Last owners were very nice & pleasent but always seemed strange characters staying over plus pub was often beerless on a Friday lunchtime. I...

What the chance of seeing Venus

No chance, my gut's in the way. Oh, Venus...ooops.

    My day in 1977

Sherry's open for a lunchtime session (that was unusual back then, and pubs still closed from 2-30 til about 6.00) then made my way to Lower bev for a big party in the school field. Think I managed to get back to Sherry's in the evening.

    Dark, disturbing but great films

Just spotted this regarding Mr Catt

Yep, the type of good old excentric who would buy an expencive house next to a football ground just so he could complain about. Still, not much else for him to do, in his dotage, and so much better when the public at large pay for all the costs of him & his 'principles'.

Didn't we take on a new guy (from Crawley?) and then the results started to dip?

Is that the Sammy Morgan who played for Albion back in the 70's?

    Changing allegiances

Millwall is your team but you should be a good dad and support your Son in his fine choice. It's great if you enjoy watching the Albion at the Amex and really there's no conflict of interest until you play 'wall.

    jimmy tarbuck

I think it was a case of him being pretty young & on the books but then comedy career took off. He did play for Albion in a friendly/testimonial in the early 70's as a celeb player, may even have scored. BTW, Des O'Connor had a similar 'thing' with Northamptn.

    Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs

Yep, the Collectors office in Brighton was one of those closed. 'A source' tells me that some of the cases they were working on have not been touched since.

    Travellers v seagulls fixture

And how does it work with those from Eire (like most of those in the now closed down Essex site)? Do they all get benefits despite having contributed nothing?

    Hitler's children.

Sounds serious viewing and I will watch it later. Can't help thinking of harry Enfield's Jurgan the German though!

    Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs

After a few years of not chasing 'small' debts, (because they can then cut staff) they now acknowledge that an awful lot of 'small' debts add up to an awful lot of money so they are sending out demands, with the absolute minimum of information and purposely leave out a contact telo because they...

Brighton players who could head a ball

I have seen them but the 17yo Dawson was a much different player by the time he signed for Albion when I think he must have been over 32. he had grown in the 'brick outhouse' of a man, all muscle & power although there were flashes of mobility. he revelled in the fact that he was the toughest...

Brighton players who could head a ball

I'd go for alkex dawson as the most fearless. He wasn't the tallest but could leap high for a big man but, what made him special, was that he'd put his head to anything, rocket shots not just crosses and he was also an expert at the diving header, torpeodo style. There is a great picture of him...
