Succeeding with 442 relies completely on having two capable central midfield players. They need to cover back, release the potential of the wingers and support in attack. We are blessed with two of the best I have seen play for brighton and if they stay fit we will get promoted.
Burnley - great away point
MK Dons - win at home
Sheffield Wed - solid away draw
Reading - happy with a point away
Preston - two points dropped at home
Bristol City - win at home
Leeds - win away
In the last seven games, seven points at home and disappointed not to beat Preston. Three away...
And sadly, it's probably the reason we'll miss out. We can't compete with Prem money or even parachute payments for that matter. Pity. Gotta love Tony's ambition though. What a time to be an Albion fan.
I'm not sure how I'm managing to make my point so badly. I was quoting someone talking about average players earning huge sums of money. And explaining that I feel it is sky money that fuels this. I was not referring to the attendance at all. I thinkour crowds are staggering. - Cardiff are...
I was referring to the money earned by what amount to very average footballers. It is sky that is driving their income, and people who pay for sky enable them to do so. Stop paying for sky, income in football falls, wages fall, we get our game back.
If you have the time, add up the points we were ahead of the next five sides in that time (5 points, 5, 6,6 and 7 respectively - totaling 29 points, an average of 5.9 points ahead. Before start of play today that total was 23, an average of 4.6 points ahead). They have been closing up (and...
4 draws in last six games - dropped 8 points out of 18 in that time. 1.67 per game in the last six games. Not promotion form - and the pack have been closing the gap gradually across that time. Unbeaten run is pointless (if you see what I mean) if it consists of lots of draws.
Those seven sides probably won't all be in the Top 10 when we play them. And more importantly, as soon as we beat them and they drop down the table a little, people seem to dismiss the achievement (eg Ipswich were top, Hull were second). We have played sides at the top this season - and won...
Not strictly correct. History shows that there is a 70% chance of the team top after 12 games going up - and by Boxing Day (not New Year) a 90% chance.
Many a slip and all that, but we have every right to be excited and optimistic.
It's a saying you hear quite often. Things will have shaken out by then and we'll get a clear idea how well we're doing. So I had a quick look at previous tables to see.
First up, for reference, Championship 2015/16 after 12 games. We'll be top after Tuesday whatever happens.
(2015-16...
Six (attainable) points dropped in recent games, but not worried. This is a great squad - fluid, smart and able to mix it when they need to. Playing for each other as a team, playing Intelligently in pairs (Kayal/Stephens, left side, right side, CBs, Baldock/hemed etc), tracking back, breaking...
