It’s quite interesting reading this thread now. So many of the predictions about entire industries shutting and others changing for good, which were totally reasonable assumptions at the time, have thankfully proven totally incorrect.
I wouldn’t say Qarabag would be an outrageously easy draw! I watched their second leg last night and thought they looked pretty decent. On a par with AEK Athens.
It’s the cliche of there being no easy teams left at this stage of the competition.
This (or these, as CH might say).
GP changed the whole attitude of the club at just the right time. Without bleating on too much about my own interview with him, one of the most interesting things he said was that at various times during his spell with us he thought that he had too much power...
This is sort of where I am too. I've said to myself that the only real draw that could make a difference to that is the San Siro, just for the pure ridiculousness of ticking off having watched the Albion play in the Velodrome, the Amsterdam Arena and the San Siro all in one season.
Liverpool fans seemingly had Dublin booked out before the group stage draw was even made. I took a casual look a couple of weeks after the group draw and there was basically nothing left. IF they go out of the competition at any point, I suspect that most of the hotels in the city will suddenly...
I'd agree were it not for the decent job he's doing at international level with Greece. He's keeping himself relevant via that. He was in the conversation with the ROI job recently for a while too. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back at a top-end Championship/lower league PL job.
In the interview he did with us for the Together Podcast a couple of years ago, he spoke in glowing terms about TB before, during and after recording.
I’ve stayed in touch with him and often get nice messages when the Albion have done well. He was especially delighted when we qualified for Europe.
Being able to travel, live and work freely in the EU? That’s a fairly big thing for a lot of people. I’ve not renewed my British passport, I’ve got an Irish one instead.
