    The Ward-Ritchie-Birtles transfer triangle

Wardy was mis-used by Clough and it's a shame because it stopped the progress of a great player. We never saw the best of Andy Ritchie, he was only a youngster when he came here to replace our hero but he went on to a great & long career with Leeds & Oldham and probably played more games in the...

    So who's this KIT NAPIER?

Great to see so many have joined in on this thread. Just a few things prompted by various comments, Our Busby was Dave and not related to Sir Matt, and if you saw a picture you'd probably see that! Alex Dawson was one of the youngsters that had to play after Munich, scoring a semi-final...

    So who's this KIT NAPIER?

Only when it comes to Albion goals. Different times, different teams. Kit was almost entirely 3rd div and only one promotion. Bobby started in the 4th tier with us & 2 promotions in a very good team at that level. he then went on to feature for 4 teams at the top and made the England team...

    So who's this KIT NAPIER?

Well done to Bobby in overtaking Albion legend Peter Ward in the table of Albion's leading scorers. Next in line is Kit Napier. Us people of a certain age are always raving about Wardy and he still visits & is a legend but let's head back a few more years to the classy Kit Napier. I believe he...

Bob from Sompting, BBC Sussex contributor

He's a top man, been following the Albion since the early 70's, maybe even earlier and has carried on despite moving north and attends most games. OK, so he may get passionate and frustrated on some calls but that's what happens when you spend your time & money following Albion.

    Worst goal drought since 1970

I thought he was an initial loan but then bought via the 'Buy a player fund and I remember doing a sponsored walk. Happy to be corrected.

I also want to end up in the garden then I know friends & family will visit more often than they would if I was stuck in some cemetery.

    Worst goal drought since 1970

I was around in that run in 1970, not that I remember the details too much. Freddie Goodwin had been lured away by Birmingham City and free scoring Albion lost his whole management team.. The new boss was Pat Saward on his 1st job. We ditched the blue shirts/white sleeves and joined the one...

heads of both environment and HMRC both resign smameron losing grip

It was no surprise that 'Dame Disaster' would go once she had her payoff/honour. Apparently she has (single handidly?) improved HMRC's performance & reputation and call waiting times are just 6 mins, don't cha know. You get through & they tell you to write in, but they can't deal with the post...

It followed our embarrassing exit to Walton the year before. We were just beginning to get a side together and I think people (Certainly was) were hoping to banish that Walton game by thrashing this bunch, hence 20k turned up, bigger than average. Albion were woeful.

    Do you know....

....the Lord's Prayer? Now, before you move to the next thread, this is NOT about religion as such. A member of my extended family, in her 30's, was surprised that older people, like me, know the Lord's Prayer. Of course, the oldies had to recite it everyday at school and, even though I'm not...

How many people who thing the FA cup is a distraction went to the cup final?

It was 14,600 odd, not great compared to the near 30k for the tie & replay but it was a midweek game, there had been a lot of fixtures and Albion were well supported at league games, and we were heading into the pre-Xmas period. We still had a good few thousand up there but not as much we'd...

Hull City Vs Brighton & Hove Albion ***Official Match Thread***

Then, my much respected NSC friend, we will have to disagree. If a player feels his whole livelyhood is at risk because he doesn't 'fit' then all the more reason, especially in the transfer window, to perform. As for outfield players being the same as goalkeepers, no again. The outfield 10 can...

Apparently our starting line-up today had scored a total of NIL goals (excepting OGs) this season.

Hull City Vs Brighton & Hove Albion ***Official Match Thread***

If I was a fringe player, or indeed in any life situation, if I thought I deserved the chance and that chance came my way then it would be down to me to make damn sure I took that chance. If Holla & co had put in that match winning performance then they could go to their manager and say "Look...

Hull City Vs Brighton & Hove Albion ***Official Match Thread***

I'm disappointed when our team goes out and doesn't appear to put the effort in. Like Bill Arnold (who has just been on the radio), I've seen many a poor Albion team and, in the big scheme of things, we are better off out of the cup this year but these are professional players and supporters...
