If there was any reasonable chance that he was Premier League standard, a PL club would have come in for him as we were letting him go for peanuts. None did which confirms that he is now in his proper place. He worked in the PL for two good coaches so there should be no excuses for him.

This is very much how I see it. To my mind he is not sufficiently commanding at a centre back in a back four. In fact he may even get decent game time as a right back. I believe the club are right to take advantage of what I see as 'media hype' to get a fee of around £50million.

He did well for us last year. I doubt that we are offering him top dollar and my guess would be a two year contract. I imagine he is considering his options.

There is a lot to fall into place for us to get anywhere near top 10. I am not expecting it. I would like us to avoid relegation a little earlier than the season just gone and have some more success against the clubs at the bottom end. That would make for a good season.

He timed it right, just like his strikes in the penalty area. He and Knocky were major players in getting us up and he was the major player in keeping us up for two seasons. Well deserved retirement.
