I agree with most of that. He is our most creative player and would be crucial. However, we found a bargain in Knockaert in January. If we get £15 million for him and spend double what we spent on a winger on replacing him, then we would still have £10 million left. I would be gutted if he left...
Same as with Dunk and Stephens, it will take a huge offer (massively over his value) for us to sell, especially to a team from the same division. As others have said, if their opening offer is at least £6 million (as the Argus say), it shows what a good deal we got in January.
Agree. I don't see anything in the article that confirms he will sign. Realistically, Blackburn don't seem to be doing anything and their fans aren't very optimistic for the season ahead. I'd say he would be interested if Blackburn accept an offer from us but, in the meantime, he's also talking...
Think a draw is always a good result away from home at first. You never know who is going to be up the top or bottom. When a team was in the play offs last season, it definitely is.
Having said that, we almost won there last season (a poor Ince backpass and a dodgy penalty) and that was without...
I am quite excited. Feels like the summer has gone very quickly though.
I enjoyed last season so much, especially when the previous season had been so disappointing, and was gutted when it ended that way. The last three months (after we signed Knockaert and Skalak) were some of the best...
Would be a good signing in my view. Not old but very experienced and can cover a couple of positions. Would be good although presumably hasn't been training all summer so wouldn't be ready to play at Derby, where we really need someone.
As it stands, think play offs are about right. This current squad is stronger than we had this time last year but with a few injuries already and a slightly tougher league (I don't agree it's much tougher as it's only Newcastle of the relegated sides who will be much better than Burnley/Boro...
What an odd post. We had a strong side out last night, barring Bruno at centre back it was a team that stormed the second half of last season. We also won 4-0. Yet you decide that if we play that team, with a decent looking bench, you think we'll get only 6 points from 5 games. Very odd.
I have to say I agree with you on this one. Wednesday seem to be spending big and he is more likely to go there. Only benefit we have is if he is settled in the south, the facilities and the fact that we finished well above them last season. Would love it to happen but not getting my hopes up
Agree. You wonder who had a meeting and came up with the conclusion that what was missing from the JPT was more games. It's ludicrous.
I don't agree with B teams being invited but I do agree with Albion joining. It is happening whether we enter or not so there's no point giving other team's...
Agreed. From a morale point of view, yes I agree. It was always going to be a fairer test once we played something close to a full squad, although ironically the first team won 1-0 and the reserves won 3-0 (although clearly that is harsh on the likes of Murphy and Hemed as they will start a lot...
Well the sarcasm of your previous post sounded pretty anti but okay. If you look at the squad last night, especially the starting 11, we've got a very good side. The only issue that needs to be sorted before Derby is a centre back (either getting Goldson fit or signing someone). Outside of that...
Sounds like an encouraging result. Friendly results don't mean much (as I said at the weekend) but it is a good sign that we improved a lot from the weekend. Good to hear that some of the youngsters impressed too, especially as there is no loan window now.
Think that starting 11 will be very...
We have Murray to be fair. He's a decent striker at this level. I think a lot of teams would be happy with Murray, Hemed and Baldock. There seems to be a very anti club attitude from some on here who just want to criticise. Signing players is not that easy, especially when you have a limited budget.
He's trying to get the best deal for his club but if he thinks either us or Derby are going to be influenced by his comments, then he is deluded. They will need to pay big for either Stephens or Hendrick and I'm not sure they will. I don't think Stephens will leave to be honest as we've clearly...
To be fair, it's become more urgent in recent weeks. It wasn't top priority at the start of the summer, strikers were the main aim. But now, because Huhnemeier is still not back and Goldson is injured, it is suddenly top of the list. I agree that it is disappointing but we've got to move on and...
I realise. I just think some people (not you) obsess about this mythical 20 goal striker when Hemed got close last season and if he gets a similar number this year and Murray gets 10-12 then another 10-12 goal striker and a few from Baldock would result in a good number from our strikers.
