Agreed, there are a lot of similarities. Villa are similarly lumbered with a hopeless bunch of expensive failures on big contracts who nobody will want to touch with a shitty stick. They'll be midtable at best, and could well spend the season looking over their shoulders at Barnsley and Rovrum.

I agree with most of that. He is our most creative player and would be crucial. However, we found a bargain in Knockaert in January. If we get £15 million for him and spend double what we spent on a winger on replacing him, then we would still have £10 million left. I would be gutted if he left but no player is bigger than the team and, if he left, we'd have to move on.

Barnes was in the last year of his contract so he was in a position for a move in January. The same applies to Kayal and Stephens. Where will Burnley and Brighton be in January? Time flies by quickly.

Contingency plans. I would be tempted to look for another youngish midfielder.

I wouldn't want to sell either. But as others have said there is a price we will sell, there always is. Bournemouth's for Matt Ritchie was £12m and he is a very good player too. If we had £15m added to our 'pot' then it would mean we could shop for a better quality of player. Not ideal but sometimes you have no choice, player/agent forces the move etc etc. Hopefully, he is content for now having just moved here.

AK has looked quite happy to be here, HE chose to sign a three and a half year deal, and probably understands perfectly well that he is going nowhere unless BHAFC choose to cash in. That will only happen with a stupid money offer, or when his contract has at least got shorter by a year. Sitting in the reserves would do nothing for his chances of finding a big fat wage increase, with us or somewhere else.

I understand all players have prices but my main worry is if our players are sold then it doesn't give us much time to try and bring in near like for like players does it. Knockart in my opinion is the difference between figniting for promotion or the play-offs.

We can't compete on wages with any club now in the premier league and any player worth their salt would want to play in the premier league. If I was Kayal I'd probably do the same.
