Got the week before off, so heading up on the Wednesday, to spend a bit of time in the Northumbria countryside. Just need to work out where to stay for that part.

Son told me the cheapest way is to fly up and back same day or stay 1 night and fly back Sunday. Doesnt affect me as I drove up and back on the important day in 1979.

I don't think you can fly to Newcastle..................Where do you fly from? - I am going up and wanted to fly so was going to fly to Edinburgh and then get train to Newcastle from Edinburgh...........I have friends in Newcastle and Edinburgh as I lived in both places before, so easy for me to break my journey

Showing Heathrow to Newcastle late morning the getting back is the problem a flight from Newcastle at 2030 but it is expensive hence he said about staying 1 night and flying back Sunday am.

There used to be a Gatwick to Newcastle flight with EasyJet, which I used to get to come down to home games. That route got canned about a year ago though, sadly. Not sure why, as it was always packed whenever I took the flights.
