We needed a striker, we signed a striker. Baldock is playing well and is perfect for this team. A big money signing like Hogan may not pressurise defences in the way Baldock does and would impact our style of play. Akpom hopefully will work and will be happy competing with Baldock rather than...
Agreed. As you say, the logic was to help clubs when they get relegated but all it means is that they sign players for huge fees. The whole system is ludicrous. If teams weren't paid so much for being in the Premier League then the drop wouldn't be so big to the Championship and we wouldn't need...
Think that is less than what we were paid for him anyway. Wasn't it an initial £8 million rising to £10 million. Sell on clause would only be on the profit usually.
I'd be very surprised if Leicester accepted this deal even with Ulloa being annoyed. Why would you sell a player to a relegation...
Sensible decision. Yes, it's a shame he won't get regular first team football for the rest of the season, barring injuries, but why leave ourselves open to a goalkeeping crisis or have to get someone in at short notice when we have a good option out on loan.
I saw that on Sky too. Can't believe they would pay an average player like Schlupp that much. What will they do with him if they go down? Nobody is going to pay them the money they paid for him and cover his wages but it will cost them a lot at Championship level to keep him.
I agree. Hopefully his workrate will be similar to Baldock's too and we can have one of them alongside Murray/Hemed with a couple of decent options on the bench.
Agreed. I think that is starts and in all competitions. It is 3 in 36 league games last season. Still, if he gets a few goals for us and can be the difference in a couple of games, then that will be fine.
Good news. We desperately need another striker. His scoring record isn't great but hopefully it will be better for us. I'm sure he will be a better fourth choice striker than Manu.
I know but it would mean that a lot of the reasons for Middlesbrough losing their lead over us involved Rhodes. As I say, no idea if it's true and I'm not arguing with you, I just find this idea that some on here seem to have (and again, not you), that Middlesbrough signed Rhodes, Middlesbrough...
Yes but the rumour was that some of this could be down to the signing of Rhodes against Karanka's wishes. No idea if that is true or not but would put a new perspective on it.
Exactly. How people still think this sort of thing given our record with him in the team this season and without him is beyond me. It is so clear that he is a massive part of the success this season and replacing him would be very difficult. He might go on a free at the end of the season but his...
How is it irrelevant. Their form after he joined was very poor. He got a few goals for them but, to be honest, if they'd not signed him and kept with the strikeforce that took them 11 points clear at the top, they may well have gone up by a greater margin than just goal difference.
Surely everyone should just trust the club. It would be pretty unprofessional to announce all our attempted signings and their demands/their club's demands.
I find it hard to believe we won't sign a striker in the next couple of days, even if it is just a back up to Baldock. We've come too far to risk only having three strikers for the rest of the season.
What a pathetic and sad post. I've not seen any of the crap you are talking about. Why are you on here rather than celebrating a great win for your team. Get a life.
And you do know about Brighton's history don't you? What the fans did to save the club.
They won't bid big. They might bid but it would take an astronomical amount for us to even consider it given our league position and why would a team throw that sort of money at a player when they can possibly have him for free in the summer? There is massive distance between his potential value...
Fair point. We should definitely sign him! Five year contract!
I'm convinced if we do sign a striker that they won't have been mentioned on here ever. It is the way the club works.
