I did read the link. If they are in full employment and contributing to society by paying taxes and NI contributions etc etc, then yes I think they should have the vote. I did put that only if they were in employment that I think they have the right to vote.

Personally I don't think people who are just resident here have the right to vote. However if you can prove you are resident here and in employment then I think you should be able to vote.

It says resident here: or an Irish, qualifying Commonwealth or European Union citizen who is resident in the UK.

I agree it shouldn't be a real ale festival, but there is no reason why the John Smiths on your list couldn't be taken out and a weak pissy real ale and strong real ale be put in its place. You are one of the last people on here who I thought would have a fixed stereotype about real ale drinkers!
