I took part in my first organised ride on Sunday, the British Heart Foundation Cotswold ride, 40 miles starting and finishing at Cheltenham racecourse, and I loved it. I think I've progressed another step on the ladder in the cycling addiction stakes.
However, one thing that has put me off...
I don't doubt you (and this poll proves it!), but if I had to pick three most likely topics it would probably be:
I) Bill Archer = knob
II) Billy Davis = knob
III) Scott McGleish = knob
Basically, I think you've got to pick a football-related idiot and cross your fingers.
I don't really get the anti-kid thing - surely a fair proportion of you must have had kids, and at some stage wanted to take them into the pub with you? I spent years as a small child in the 80s and early 90s sat outside in the freezing cold because kids weren't allowed in pubs, and it was...
How would that work - three B teams disappearing as the parent club is relegated to be replaced by new ones every year? And what happens if a B team won a league shortly before being 'disappeared' - would the new club 'inherit' the promotion or be forced to start again in League 3? Looks like...
Genius. What an absolute shower of shit.
Anyway, the reason I thought to update this thread was yet another example of Player-based incompetence. My subscription recently expired (and I'd removed the auto-renewal), but I was thinking about re-subscribing. So I get an email at 10PM last night...
No. A day is our word for a rotation. The rotation exists, it's effects are manifested on the planet, whether we call it a day or not. 'A day' is our description of the observation of the sun rising and setting. There are seasons, whether we measure them or not, the Earth moves, both on its axis...
Sorry, don't agree. You are constructing artificial constructs (100 revolutions) into other artificial units (1 day). Our understanding of days and years isn't based on a artificial construct - it's based on the movement of celestial bodies. If you stood on Mars, there would be what we call...
Nibs, he's got you bang to rights, I really can't see what you're getting at.
This is wrong. There is no other way to describe it. For as long as humans have been on this earth there have been 365 complete revolutions of the Earth in the time it takes the Earth to travel around the sun. We did...
Or alternatively 365.24 appearances of the sun, or revolutions of the earth on its axis.
As Triggaaar pointed out, there are definite celestial forces which determine the length of some events, and we can use one set of events (e.g. one revolution of the earth on its axis) to define others...
So, after years of sustained success, earlier this week I got fed up with the Amex being limited to 30k with no prospect of expansion (and no chance of a new ground with the current one so new), so I downloaded FMRTE and changed the expansion capacity to 90k. Last night the first off-season...
So this morning illustrated one of the big things I like about cycling - the camaraderie.
I'm cycling in to work, very much the amateur cyclist that I am, when I get a rear puncture about 3 miles from work. I have all the gear for changing an inner tube, but have never done it before (although...
Which heavy-hitters? Kirsten was the most obvious one and made it clear that he didn't want the job. Hardly going to tempt Lehmann (or Fletcher!) from the other top jobs, and I can't think of many others that are stand-out candidates. It's a joyous side effect of the money of the IPL that...
Thanks for the help. Yes - and to be honest the monitor and wireless keyboard/mouse I have at the moment is decent enough, so I'd probably be okay just with the laptop and upgrading the other bits and pieces as required. Any advice on what my priorities should be when looking at a laptop to meet...
Need some advice from the NSC sages. I am looking to get a new home PC and also could do with a laptop for work, and was wondering about the best/cheapest way to go about it.
I need:
Something for home - which means Office365 compatible and the ability to play a few games via Steam. Nothing too...
The fact that it's not clear shows what a farce the system is. Seems to me, if they're going to print tickets that are vague enough to say 'London terminals' on it then you should be able to use it to get to any National Rail station in London. Or alternatively just give a more useful...
