Not if we've offered him a contract of greater or equal terms to his current one, no. I'm sure he would end up leaving in these circumstances, but we would be entitled to compensation from whichever club he joined.

In fairness to him, he's still got something of a vested interest as he has been, rightly or wrongly, dismissed quite publicly for gross misconduct.

Agreed. I still find it staggering how many seem to have swallowed the club's non-reasons hook, line and sinker. All we know for certain is that Gus was fired after leading the club to its highest position in 30 years. I find it incredible why more questions aren't being asked about exactly why...
