So did anyone actually like the new Phoenix album? There seemed to be a lot of anticipation for it and then no one talked about it once it was released. Is is worth a spin?
Really like the Mikal Cronin one.
After seeing The Flaming Lips tonight I can see their new one really growing on me.
It's not illegal but it's a massively prickish thing to do. Driving down a narrow one way street at 2mph is not illegal, but in general road users do what they can to be help others out. Some cyclists seem to enjoy pissing everyone else off because they can/it's not illegal.
No, didn't change my life. The atmosphere was WAY down on when I saw them 10 years ago. You could count the amount of people properly singing along to Race for the Prize/Do You Realize on one hand.
I've been following the Lips for a long time and seen them live loads. Their show about 10 years...
I get panicky if I go to bed without water available. I hardly ever drink it, but at least I know it's there! Also, it's useful for having a good swig of when you wake up and your mouth tastes like you've given satan a blowjob. Especially when having been on the sauce/kebabs!
The reason everyone like it is because everyone is obsessed with chicken because no one actually seems to like anything anymore. Chicken is the blandest meat with a good texture so everyone loves it - seriously, the amount of people I know who will basically only eat chicken (unless their meat...
In Brighton -
Flaming Lips tomorrow.
Liars at the Haunt
Japandroids at the Haunt
Modest Mouse at Concorde 2
Also planning to add Mission of Burma to the list.
Elsewhere I've got Springsteen, Neil Young and James Blake, with plenty more I'd like to add.
I can't understand how anyone can't like Get Lucky - it's a fantastic pop song. In fact, it kind of convinces me that even if the Beatles were around today, people wouldn't be that fussed about them. Get Lucky is in a direct lineage of disco classics, Chic with a new name, and is the kind of...
Had a great evening last night, saw Red River Dialect, Darkstar, Lord Huron and Phospherecent. Was little queuing as well which was a surprise, assume tonight will be 10 times worse once all the London folk arrive?
Need tips for today. Only thing I'm interested in is Ed Harcourt and Indians.
An odious odious man. Truly ignorant and lacking in any charm, wit, or demonstrable passion for the game beyond Chelsea.
Probably never been closer to smashing up a radio than when he was hosting a 606 show before a Man U-Chelsea fixture where he repeatedly argued that John Terry's suspension...
A couple from Only Fools and Horses that I like (though are by no means the best ever):
1. Del, Rodney and Grandad staying in a spooky cottage with a convicted psychopath on the loose. Rodney opens the curtains to see a flash of lightning and a silhouette of a man standing at the window. Rodney...
Said on the other threads but so far I have enjoyed Lord Huron and On An On.
To me it looks like almost everything I want to see is on the Thursday night.
Going to Great Escape too, and am eager for recommendations as the line up is bewildering!
A couple that I've listened to and enjoyed so far, though, are Lord Huron and On An On. Beach Fossils and Phosphorescent are decent as well, though they may not be much of a recommendation as they are...
And if my aunty had a set of wheel she'd be a car!
It is crazy that we are in fourth though. I can't decide whether it's more to do with us being great or the league being shit. The results tonight were mad.
I can't remember a time for a while that has had so many exciting releases (for my tastes) in such a short period. All out very recently or coming up very soon are:
Kurt Vile - Walkin on a Pretty Daze
The Flaming Lips - The Terror
James Blake - Overgrown
The Knife - Shaking the Habitual
Suede -...
I use letterboxd (letterboxd.com). Here you can go through and easily tick all the films you have seen and it will nicely sort them into chronological order for you. You can also 'log' and review films, so you can have a kind of online film diary, if you can be bothered to keep it updated. Not...
I mainly want to see Joaquin Phoenix win for Best Actor. His performance was incredible. Much as I love Day-Lewis as Lincoln, he is a great actor playing Abraham Lincoln - the material was there and he duly delivered. Phoenix, on the other hand, is playing a character who is almost impossible to...
I would imagine that plenty of people who rant about how farcical it is when we change the clocks would soon miss the extra hour of light we get in the evening. I know I enjoy long summer evenings, when you can still sit in a light garden until 8 or 9pm. I assume those who don't start their...
