i just cannot believe how crap this season has been at home, although its typical, as its my first year as a sth. there are only so many games where you can continue to 'take the positives' from yet another home defeat.
i don't know how we finished 7th under wilkins, we played some dire football that season. i remember one game in particular at withdean when we lost 3-2 to port vale. they were bottom of the league by a country mile and they battered us. i seem to recall them hitting the woodwork about 10 times...
i watched a schoolboy match saturday morning before going to withdean, and those boys would have been embarrassed to concede goals like that, particularly the second and third. elphick really did have a mare, if he'd actually bothered to run back he could have prevented the second goal. instead...
slade in for me to. he will turn it around and we will finish mid table, which would be a big improvement on last year. i feel sorry for him because the players are letting him down big time at the moment, and i hope he gave them a real fergie hairdryer after the game.
as good as i think murray...
if you look at hull's attendances, they were averaging between 4,000 and 7,000 in the decade leading up to the KC stadium opening. then they jumped up to 13,000 in the 1st year of the KC (when they were still league 2), and then 18,000 in league 1, and up to 20,000 in the championship.
tbh...
born in hertfordshire, lived there all my life, but i used to go to brighton all the time as a kid. i really liked the place and one saturday in 1997 we were down there and my dad took me to a game at the goldstone against wigan. i think it was the 2nd to last home game there. havent looked back...
Smith 7- a few decend saves but a couple of dodgy kicks too.
Virgo 6- played ok, out of position a couple of times. he is definatly better at CB.
Elphick 6- average. a few aimless hoofs.
Wright 8- MOM. some great blocks and looked to pass it out of defence rather than hoofing.
McNulty 7-...
he was a joke ref, but i'm becoming used to seeing them now.
however, he wasnt helped by MK players rolling around and diving all afternoon. that number 22 and easter were the worst culprits. go down like they've been shot, roll around a bit, see they r still attacking then sprint to catch up...
I have been really disappointed with Thornhill. Heard good things from Forest fans when he came down. I'm not exagerating when i say he gave the ball away pretty much every time he got it today.
For someone of his height he is very poor in the air! Why Kuipers hasnt realised this now and still hoofs every free kick towards him is beyond me. He looks better and showed some nice touches when he got the ball to feet.
However, he is also very lightweight and gets pushed of the ball easily...
