He was not good at all today, can't jump or hold the ball up. Frustrating player to watch. Not the answer if for a top 6 finish

who said we were going to finish in top 6? mid table always after summer transfers surely.

he's not a creator, he doesn't find the goal scoring positions as well as other players do I.E Forster. but he does provide space for fozzy which is good.. however i don't think you can say whether or not he's a goal-scorer yet because he hasn't found the goal scoring positions, because i reckon he's got a cracking finish on him, i.e huddersfield goal.. but he just struggles to find the positions bit like Murray, create for him and he'll score, where as Forster is a goal scorer which will create for himself.

He is almost the opposite to C.Davies because C.Davies is great at getting into goal scoring positions but is terrible at putting the chances away... remember its league one he's not going to be the full package, and if they are the full package there normally old I.E Forster, Boothroyd etc.

Again people notice the negative and not the positive. we as a team should have worked out by now that LONG BALLS ARE NOT THE ANSWER!!! Why we insist that every thing played to him must be a long ball I don't know. The odd few from goal kicks or set pieces and crosses but every move seems to be a long ball.

Play the ball to feet and then we will see he can turn defenses inside, play the through ball and get shots away.

He needs to concentrate more on his football and less going out drinking with Coxy in Haywards Heath. It said in his Argus Q&A yesteday he "can't wait for the season to be finished so he can go on holiday to the Bahamas again".

Dare I suggest he needs to knuckle down more and give it his all?

I cannot believe the people that come on here and slag the players off when it is so unjustified. Are they the same people who only go to Withdean for a hot dog,to gossip about a load of old bollocks and then top it off by having a shit in the portacabins. I actually thought that Dickinson done ok today, his workrate in the first half was top class but he tired in the 2nd probably down to the fact we were playing with 10 men and he is apparently carrying a knock. The only criticism i have of him is that i think he is trying to hard in front of goal and snatching at chances, probably down to the fact that he is coming under pressure from certain factions and wants to do well.It is obvious he wants to well for the club ,you can see he cares.I just hope Slade keeps the faith with him because i think he will be a big player for us.

He did pretty well today, and even defended well when we went down to ten men. Did everyone who posted on this thread actually go to the game?

For someone of his height he is very poor in the air! Why Kuipers hasnt realised this now and still hoofs every free kick towards him is beyond me. He looks better and showed some nice touches when he got the ball to feet.
However, he is also very lightweight and gets pushed of the ball easily for someone of his size. Also, he must have been very glad to see that offside flag when he headed wide with a totally free header from 5 yards in the 2nd half.

from the games i have watched this season i get the impression Dickinson is a lazy striker

Cant jump to save his life .....first touch is atrocious .......no anticipation what so ever.....second to the ball even when played strsight to him.....but you cannot accuse him of lack of effort or passion......

Muuray in 5 mins today showed him how it is done....lets hope he can stay fit and also stay at the club...

I have been a critic of Dickenson and his heading ability for a man 6ft 4in tall but must say today he won more headers than he has all season combined. He did however upset Murray going for a shot right on time when Murray had peeled off to a good position on the left of their box.

im easily dicko's biggest critic but i thought he had a better game today, has clearly been working on his heading, but seemed to be taking a bit too long on the ball, it's time for muzza to get a start though

Wierd how opinions differ.

As you know I've been sticking up for Dickinson over the last few weeks, but I thought he was shit today, he didn't really do any of the stuff that I've been banging on about, didn't hold it up very well, didn't pick the good passes and didn't really create anything. The only difference was he won a few headers.

My point is in a season

Forster 20
Dickinson - struggle to get 10
Hart - 5 tops
Davies - 2
Murray - depends if he can be arsed

Apart from Forster where are the goals coming from ?.

If they get those goals, we are laughing. You are an idiot.

Hang on- in another thread you said we were playing great football, now you say we hoof it. Which is it?

I think Dickinson is a great player. He just needs to get himself in the place to score more often.

In fact, all our signings have turned out as I predicted after one game. Bennett is brilliant, Dickinson is good, Tunnicliffe is very promising, Dicker is class and Crofts is anonymous wank.

:wanker:

Funny as IMO he's been one of the players who have really stood out.

Dickinson is the marked man up front who others have to work off. I can't remember that many quality crosses from attacking positions that are aimed a metre or so ahead of him for him to knock in with his very long head. I thought he played really well and just needs someone to slot him through so he can have a one on one to show his class. He is a bit of a diver, and i do despise that in players (that includes you Forster), but i like his touch and occasional determination. I hope he has nice time in the Bahamas at the end of the season too, having obviously loved it so much the first time around.

I don't want to say Dickinson out, or anything but he is the laziest pile of shit i've seen play this season. I rate Davis above him. Bennet, f*** me he was class, great winger, had to pay defence and made one critical error that he got up and brushed him self down from, after Tunny (another one to watch and a great signing) covered for him.

Dickinson didn't jump once, when he did come off the ground it was a skip, he gets pushed off the ball to much and jogs about for 80 miniutes and only in the last ten does he realise he should probably try a bit now. Slade should be strong, and say to him "you can't be f***ed, your out for the next two games" put Muzza or Davis on (Bring him back!) And give Hart a bit longer than five miniutes. That might give him the short sharp shock to bring him back to earth. 300,000.00? Waste of money right now.

Dicker however, I'll kiss the ground he walks on, standing ovation whenever he gets subbed, runs around like a f***ing nutter, wins more challenges than he loses, gives that extra man of support, just knocking it on to a man in good position, ii've not seen one mistake from him yet that has had me up in arms like Dickinson. Him, Tunnycliffe and Bennet are three examples of why Slade has to stay, he has signed a trio of class acts that will propell us up the tabele this season and in to the championship next season. Bennet doesn't look like a half bad defender either :jester:

Dickinson is not a great player....great players come around once or twice in a generation.
What I look for in a " target " man is the ability to hold the ball up and play it simply to a colleague. To win a decent proportion of headers and also to flick the ball on and create opportunities. To be a physical threat to defenders and to have a scoring rate of 1 in 3 ( 15 goals a season )
If Dickinson fits this criteria...fine......but IMO he is inconsistent, loses concentration, trys to be too clever and doesn't " read " Forster.
He clearly polarises opinion amongst fans. They either think he is terrific or terrible. Having spoken to fans of clubs that have had him on loan, the general view is that he is not very good.
He didn't play a single first team game at Derby and they are only a division above us.
I wish him luck but I am not convinced he is the answer. I hope he proves me wrong.

I find this amazing, if true. Surely a professional footballer can appreciate the need to keep fit, not just for matches but generally for training and his well being?

Far more junior sides I played in insisted on this and we were paying to play!

Yes I know they need to have a private life blah, blah so do we all but we all have to carry out our jobs to the best of our ability, don't we?

Yesterday MK Dongs played the ball around and retained possession very well and made us, with our long ball game, look like a park outfit. MK weren't a great team we just made them look good, yes good possession but otherwise very ordinary.

I for one am getting very tired of a team that don't look imaginative and appear happy to keep lumping inaccurate kicks up the pitch ... it's not good enough.
